Instrument Technician

The Role:
1. Participates in all instrument maintenance activities at LPG recovery plant.
2. Understand technical Governmental and Company rules, regulations and procedures.
3. Understand maintenance strategy and philosophy and participates in the development/ implementation of condition monitoring procedures/routines.
4. Applies for work permits and understands and implements the permit conditions prior to commencement of work.
5. Develops risk assessments, leads safety and toolbox meetings.
6. Acts as a team-player in the multifunctional operations and maintenance team.
7. Promotes HSE culture.
8. Utilize troubleshooting skills to solve instrument and related problems both independently and in liaison with other departments.
9. Supervises third party inspections, where applicable.
10. Possess knowledge and understanding of instrument equipment.
11. Lead the development and implementation of procedures and work instructions for the completion of instrument related tasks.
12. Checks the functionality of equipment and measuring instruments.
13. Conversant with CMMS including preparation of material requisition and work order management and materials and warehousing.
14. Communicates with vendors and supply chain for technical support.
15. Assists in mentoring, training, and appraising of local maintenance personnel.
16. Ensures that plant and equipment is maintained according to compliance and integrity standards in order to meet expected reliability and 'uptime' Key Performance Indicators.
17. Liaises closely with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams in activity planning, MOC development and cost control.
18. Ensures that all activities are accurately recorded in the maintenance management system, providing all necessary reports.
19. Reports to the Instrument Supervisor -on all issues relating to instrument department.
20. Identify/suggest ideas to improve performance within Instrument department.
21. Exhibits and maintains excellent working relationships with staff.
22. Supports on job training programs to enhance essential competencies and behaviours to allow development.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Instrument Diploma qualification.
* At least 8 years' experience in the oil & gas and/or related industries.
* Candidate should possess experience in process control and PLCs as it relates to oil and gas industry.
* Mentor Instrument technicians.
* Supervising contractors and third parties.
* Knowledge of instrument equipment as it applies to oil and gas industry.
* Maintain and improve instrument equipment availability and reliability.
* Authorized as performing authority in Permit to Work (PTW) system.
* Good Leadership skill.
* Good working knowledge of MS office.
* Analytical skills to identify and resolve instrument related problems
* Awareness of emergency response plans.
* Strong working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (such as Maximo) and Integrity (risk based) maintenance procedures
* Experience of working with various types of instrument as it relates to other equipment on pumps, compressors, power generation packages and related system
