The Role:
The Facilities Project Manager role is based in London, functionally reporting to the Head of Projects and Engineering. The role will involve coordination of London based project engineering activities to support the capital projects execution programme and also to provide support for London based conceptual engineering and field operations requirements. The role will involve a high degree of interface coordination in order to provide high quality and timely capital project deliverables to the field and to provide effective and timely support to field engineering requests. As such there will be some periodic travel requirements to the Chad asset and potentially to other assets in the portfolio, which are currently Africa focused.

The role will necessarily combine hands on technical delivery with the project management of London based projects from pre-FEED stage to detail design and construction and commissioning support. Inherent in the role will be a strong technical engineering focus to ensure Front End loading and adequate engineering and technical rigour in all activities both in-house and contractor supported.

The role requires a technically able engineer with a strong track record in both discipline engineering and project and interface management. This is a highly diverse role in which the incumbent will be expected to take a leadership role in projects and interface management, whilst delivering strong technical support in core discipline areas. In the current low oil price environment there will be a strong focus on cost effective execution and maximum utilisation of existing facilities through fit for purpose brownfield work scopes.

The role requires someone who can work without close direction and who can collaborate with all areas of the business to deliver on their brief. Candidates must be highly motivated, hands-on, self-starting, action-centered and flexible in their approach. They will take a 'business needs perspective' in everything they do. Exceptional coordination and communication skills are required in order to draw together multiple interfaces and project requirements and the candidate must be able to work on multiple levels to both effectively manage parallel activities whilst maintaining strong technical involvement. The position will involve significant management profile and accountability for delivery of successful business outcomes.

The role would suit an experienced (15years +) well-rounded engineering and project management professional with strong facilities engineering background and deep project and interface management experience relating to onshore projects implementation.

This role requires a highly experienced engineer with a strong track record in core discipline engineering, project management and interface management:
 Proven track record in positions of technical accountability within operator organisations - ability to coordinate and drive quality outputs from contractors and consultants
 Technical strength and attention to detail - ability to interrogate and constructively challenge concepts to ensure rigorous outcomes appropriate to requirements
 Good appreciation of multiple engineering disciplines as well as core discipline
 Commercially and contractually astute
 Broad appreciation of wider E&P activities in particular subsurface and wells would be well regarded
 Sound understanding of the Stage-Gate project delivery systems.
 Strength in all project phases, concept engineering through detailed design and commissioning
 Exceptionally strong coordination, project management and interface management skills
 Exceptional strength and commitment to Engineering rigour
 Pragmatic, innovative and creative - able to create value by identifying and driving alternative approaches, appropriate to existing facilities
 Ability to operate on multiple levels and take a hands on approach
 Demonstrates strong business acumen with respect to project funding and project cost analysis
 Excellent English communication and presentation skills, good report writing skills
 Excellent interpersonal skills - able to work collaboratively across discipline boundaries

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
 Engineering bachelor degree or higher - Mechanical, Chemical, Instrument / Elec /Controls, Civils)
 15+ years industry experience - the majority in E&P project environments delivering oil and gas developments across the whole project lifecycle
 Experienced in execution of onshore oil and gas projects, both greenfield and brownfield
 Significant project engineering / management experience in engineering contractor, consultant or supplier organisations
 Prior experience in mechanical / piping, control and instruments or engineering management positions would be highly regarded
 Prior roles in facilities construction, fabrication, commissioning and field operations would also be highly regarded
 Experience of working and executing projects in emerging economies, preferably in Africa
