The Role:
This is a key role within the engineering team at Seal Sands to deliver assigned capital projects to meet the needs of the business.
The incumbent is responsible for the safe development, implementation and delivery of various projects within the site Capital Projects Portfolio.
The role will be responsible for all aspects of the project lifecycle including development and scoping, engineering, project controls, contracting and procurement, construction, commissioning and handover along with health, safety and environment.

The role will identify and engage resources in accordance with the project objectives utilising internal and external expertise as required

* Adheres to and supports the Safety Principles.
* Ambassador for the communication of and compliance to the Safety Principles.
* Delivers assigned capital projects safely, zero accidents or incidents and in accordance with the environmental objectives of the business.
* Leads the development of the assigned capital projects to clearly represent the business objectives and drivers.
* Identification, engagement and effective leadership of the project implementation team plus resources from external 3rd parties when required.
* Budget responsibility for the assigned capital projects. Typical project values range from £20k to up to £4M.
* Manage the co-ordination of site and external construction/installation contractors to deliver the assigned capital projects.
* Develop effective lines of communication between design, installation and maintenance teams to safely and effectively deliver the assigned capital projects.
* Lead and develop the interface between project design group and plant operations to ensure accurately defined project scopes.
* Develop the scope and key project activities outlined by the technology and production ensuring that project goals are aligned with plant requirements.
* Follow the site project management procedures and processes and participate from time to time in their review and update.
* Organise and manage key project reviews including but not limited to design reviews, hazard studies, risk management, pre start-up safety reviews, project closeout, lessons learned etc.
* Manage multidiscipline Engineering resources to deliver comprehensive work packages and deliverables for procurement and installation and ensure full co-ordination between disciplines.
* Proactively monitor and control project costs against agreed budget and ensure disciplined project change control is carried out.
* Participate in the development and submission of capital project funding applications and associated justifications and costing to meet the requirements for on and offsite CAPEX approvals.
* Coordinate with the Capital Projects Cost Engineer to provide comprehensive capital project cost and forecast spend reporting to meet the requirements of the site CAPEX reporting requirements.
* Develop and manage project planning and scheduling for the assigned capital projects

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Chartered Mechanical Engineer qualified to Degree level or equivalent with 15 years+ experience in a similar role in a Top Tier COMAH/manufacturing site
* Track record of delivering 'cut and carve' projects on hazardous chemical plant/site
* Thorough understanding of process safety, hazard studies and HAZOP's etc
* Awareness of the requirements of Functional Safety
* Knowledge of CDM requirements in relation to projects
* Plant engineering and/or construction background preferred in addition to project management experience.
* Familiar with project planning and scheduling software.
* Stakeholder Management

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
* Able to work on their own initiative and proactively drive projects to meet agreed objectives and deadlines.
* Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
* Good awareness of legal, safety and environmental issues.
* Strong leadership skills including the ability to lead and motivate individuals and teams.
* Basic proficiency in use of MS Project, Excel for project planning, tracking & cost reporting.
* Exposure to SAP is an advantage.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Accurate and concise management reports.
* Good planning and organizing.
