The Role:
PURPOSE
This job description details responsibilities for the role of Mechanical Technician reporting to the
Maintenance Supervisor.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF ROLE
Working as part of an efficient, effective multi-disciplinary technician team to complete maintenance activities, breakdown support, installation works and engineering support for activities on SCP equipment and work for customers and clients at SCP.

MAJOR DUTIES
Complete all assigned tasks within own competence to required SHEQ and business standards & times including but not limited to investigation, troubleshooting, planned repair scopes, preventative and predictive maintenance, equipment installation and projects.

When required seek appropriate technical or safety guidance from competent persons. Whenever necessary, stop the job if unsafe or unsure.

Carry out high quality job reporting through CMMS failure reporting, lessons learned (particularly on
repeatable tasks such as PM's), and feedback to appropriate persons.

Initiate equipment registration requests for changes in equipment hardware and/or data resulting from maintenance activities.

Assist maintenance planners and supervisors in the identification, specification and purchase requisition of spares necessary to carry out the job.

Raise maintenance issue notifications in a timely manner via the CMMS. Complete work place safety and condition audits as required.
Continuously seek, suggest and deliver improvements to drive quality of maintenance execution.

Produce and contribute to maintenance procedures, work plans, project scoping documents and contractor work scopes.

Supervise contractor personnel to ensure all work is technically correct and in accordance with site safety, environmental and quality procedures.

Work alongside other members of the Engineering and Maintenance/ Operations Team to review method statements, risk assessments & other required safety documentation for fitness for purpose.

Co-ordinate and monitor assigned maintenance contracts, balancing key business safety and commercial goals and through effective auditing, ensuring quality and safety standards.

Understand and apply current standards and legislation, including PSSR, DSEAR, HASAWA, LOLER.

Maintain own level of competence completing and applying required training and development activities to enable effective completion of role and responsibilities.

Assist the Operations team with out of hours call out technical support.

Portray the role of Mechanical Technician in a positive and professional manner.
