The Role:
Provide electrical support to the plant, assets and infrastructure. The work will comprise statutory tests/inspections routine preventative maintenance and breakdown cover/rectification. The job holder will be expected to undertake an amount of trouble shooting and minor installation works on electrical and instrumentation systems

* Perform statutory inspections and tests on site electrical systems in accordance with appropriate procedures and guidelines. Perform remedial works as required.
* Diagnose and repair problems, primarily with electrical systems and also basic instrumentation systems.
* Provide a reasonable amount of 'out of hours' electrician cover for the site.
* Read and interpret electrical drawings such as wiring schematics, instrument loop drawings etc.
* Maintain accurate service and maintenance records, including electrical records and drawings.
* Perform the installation and commissioning of minor electrical and instrument projects and modifications.
* Manage and organise own work with regard to priorities, safe working systems and equipment/spares.
* With manager, establish clear objectives and priorities to enable engineering to meet operational targets.
* Maintain and develop close links to the Manufacturing teams
* Carry out site electrical maintenance activities and ensure appropriate standards are reached.
* Continually refine planned maintenance routines by recommending and implementing changes identified whilst operating PPMs.
* Raise work requests for follow up where appropriate, specifying and ordering parts required.
* Ensure that plant and equipment perform to manufacture product efficiently to high quality standards by preventing unplanned downtime whenever possible
* Liaise, assist and support other departments in general running of the factory.
* Undertake and support the training of others as required
* Take responsibility for problems until a solution is found
* Support continuous improvement activities
* Have a flexible attitude working across plants/sites when required and to 'out of hours' working
* Demonstrate initiative when working unsupervised
* Contribute to and help implement continuous improvement in manufacturing, including quality, safety, efficiency and waste reduction.
* Provide an innovative proactive support service to the site based on skill and experience, driving innovation for continuous improvements
* Participate in Cl teams as required
* Undertake individual projects as requested
* Ensure a thorough understanding of required food safety, quality and GMP standards.
* Ensure all procedures are implemented and associated records are completed diligently and correctly
* Have an understanding of food safety and quality KP l's and your impact/contribution to them
* Assist technical staff in assurance and verification that safety and quality standards for process, product and factory environment are consistently achieved
* Ensure suitable corrective action is in place with food safety & quality issues
* Stop production and report any concerns relating to the operation and functionality of CCP's
* Report any adverse conditions which may impact product quality
* Ensure all work conforms to statutory & safety requirements.
* Ensure all work is controlled by a suitable safe system of work (e.g. Permit to Work system).
* Reduce customer complaints and wastage through effective maintenance and continuous improvement
* Personally demonstrate the correct safety behaviours.
* Report Near Misses and encourage others to report all near miss incidents.
* Take responsibility for ensuring areas achieve and maintain required GMP standards
* Ensure excellent hygiene and housekeeping standards are maintained.
* Communicate daily with manager to ensure planned maintenance; engineering and production priorities are considered and as necessary to ensure issues are dealt with promptly
* Communicate as required with site stores to ensure that spares are available for planned and breakdown maintenance
* Feedback to site stores any information which will help improve service
* Contribute to team meetings
* Give advice and support to team members
* Work closely with other relationship holders, senior managers and knowledge rnanaqers
* Identify and agreeing personal development needs
* Take pro-active actions to address your personal development needs
* Keep up to date with product/service developments
* Develop technical skills

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Recognised apprenticeship - time-served electrician (Industry) with a minimum of NVQL3 qualification or equivalent
* Experience and competence in electrical and instrument maintenance, specifically: 415v and 240v distribution systems and drives, including VSDs; earthing systems and RCDs.
* Qualified to Inspect and test fixed wiring - City and Guilds 2391 or equivalent..
* Expertise in reading and interpreting electrical drawings such as wiring schematics, instrument loop drawings etc.
