The Role:
A new full-time, permanent position has become available for a Buyer to work within the Materials team at a leading Oil & Gas company. Reporting directly to the Materials Manager, the Buyer will be responsible for aspects of the supply chain (i.e. tendering, sourcing, negotiating, and contracting) and will undertake a full range of purchasing activities to ensure expedient and cost effective deliveries, as well as compliance with the Organisation quality standards, processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, develop and monitor suppliers on product and service quality, documentation preparation, invoicing processing
  • Continuously work with existing Vendors to improve delivery performance. Negotiate rates and discounts
  • Expedite existing orders and requests for quotes for both direct and indirect materials
  • Place new POs and manage existing POs to ensure On Time Delivery And Purchase Price Variances are within set targets
  • Monitor and support returns, damage replacements, and warranty claims
  • Liaise with relevant departments to ensure compliance of work with the industry standards and company policies
  • Work with planning, project and logistics functions to ensure deliveries are met
  • Ensure all invoicing discrepancies are resolved in a fast and efficient manner to avoid any supply chain disruptions
  • General administration duties as requested

Our client is a global leader in engineering, design and manufacturing of pressure control and flow technologies for the oil and gas industry. Our client works on both onshore, offshore and subsea projects in some of the most remote locations in the world. Their interests in Australia are with offshore, onshore and subsea aspects on mega-LNG and oil projects.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree - preferably in a technical field
  • Extensive experience in similar role
  • Sound knowledge of SAP, MRP and MS Office Suite
  • High level of communication skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • Great negotiating skills and organisational skills
