The Role:
Prepare and project manage well subsea equipment design, manufacture, transportation, installation and hook up plans to assure technical integrity standards, business and regulatory requirements and health, safety and environmental performance targets are achieved. Responsible for the provision of operational leadership and subsea engineering support to ensure subsea well operations are conducted safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

* Work with project, drilling, exploration, development and operations/asset teams to enable the subsea infrastructure design to be scoped and engineered to meet technical specifications and objectives.
* Take lead and ownership within the Wells Department of subsea equipment manufacturing, testing, delivery and installation.
* Effectively design and develop the subsea equipment programs and associated Authorisation For Expenditure (AFE) for company's operated wells as directed by the Principal Completions Engineer.
* Ensure that all risks are identified and managed to assure on time delivery of optimal quality equipment, operational integrity and eliminate unplanned events.
* Effective design of subsea tree and controls, rig-based installation including interface with subsea BOP systems, intervention equipment, ROV systems etc.
* Interface with the company's Projects team to develop sub sea interface and connection programs.
* Assist, as required, in the preparation of HSE safety cases for drilling, completion and well testing and production hook up operations.
* Provide technical input to procurement and contracting. Review and recommend services and materials for program implementation. Provide QA/QC guidance throughout the equipment manufacture and installation phases.
* Bring up-to-date knowledge of the latest well subsea installation and hook up procedures and equipment and make recommendations to the Principal Completions Engineer to improve practices and performance.
* Coordinate equipment and personnel logistics to ensure timely commencement of completion operations and facilitate scheduling and procurement requirements for well operations.
* Contribute to the ongoing development of Well Engineering and Construction System standards, policies and procedures to ensure technical excellence is maintained across all operations.
* Travel to manufacturing plants and well sites, as required, to work with vendors and operations personnel.

* Mentor and coach Wells engineers within the team to develop their subsea skill base and knowledge.
* Assist with the management of contracts, tenders, and contractor's scope of work, suppliers and specialist contractors to maintain a cost effective and fit for purpose equipment manufacture and operation.
* Monitor, and on a daily basis, report to management on the progress of manufacture and delivery of equipment, and upon the execute phase, well operations and current costs. Compare actual costs with cost proposals and recommend improvements which may lead to future optimisation of expenditure.
* Assist in the development of risk assessments, hazard analysis and well reports.
* Lead any NCR investigation activity of subsea equipment or procedures and report back to the Principal Completions Engineer in a timely manner.
* Prepare post well completion audit reports and provide these to the Principal Completions Engineer.
* Ensure company's operating and HSE standards for well completion and legislative compliance requirements are achieved.
* Perform post well reviews; capture and incorporate learning's into future programs, to ensure continued improvement in completion efficiencies and costs.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Tertiary qualifications in Engineering.
* Extensive industry experience in subsea engineering and operations, depending on aptitude and career experience.
* Demonstrated experience in managing complex subsea projects involving multiple vendor interfaces and internal department interfaces.
* Ability to effectively structure work and manage documentation through a document control system.
* Sound understanding and application of subsea equipment mechanical principles, subsea marine engineering, design and operations for both Wells and Production processes. Sound understanding of governing standards.
* Sound understanding of subsea rig operations.
* Sound risk assessment and risk management skills, minimising potential safety and environmental risk.
* Experience with range of subsea / offshore completion design and installation.
* Willingness and ability to travel to remote locations, as required.
