The Role:
LEAD, COMMUNICATIONS & STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

Position Summary

The role of Lead, Communications & Stakeholder Management is to support the CEO and the Leadership Team to build, enhance and maintain relationships with important external stakeholders, help to protect the interests of KPOC 's long term reputation and enhance its business opportunities. The position will be the prime focal for all internal communication matters, including providing advice and direction to ensure that KPOC delivers its ACTRITE responsibilities within its business operations
The position will liaise with the various Government Departments and Authorities on latest policy changes and provide insights on potential impact of these changes. Proactive communication with relevant Government and Stakeholder bodies to ensure that KPOC operations are executed safely, efficiently, ethically and in compliance with its environmental responsibilities. This position will also be a source of guidance with regards to local approvals and permits in a timely and efficient manner.

Principal Accountabilities

1. Provide external affairs advice and support to the Business in the preparation of communication plans including the development of communications material (key messages, briefings, printed material) for KPOC's external positioning strategy with the relevant authorities and government agencies.
2. Monitor and manage external intelligence/research of regulatory bodies for early identification of risks and opportunities on issues which may affect KPOC's business and proactively manage them. Ensure all relevant stakeholders have direct contact with KPOC and vice versa.
3. Develop and implement an integrated communications plan aligned with KPOC's business strategy including introducing new communication tools and ways of working to increase effectiveness.
4. Advice the Leadership Team (LT) on key relationships and provide appropriate external communications support to senior business leaders in KPOC on their engagements with relevant authorities and government agencies.
5. Keep the LT informed of issues which may have an impact on KPOC operations including the latest requirements by the relevant authorities and government agencies.
6. Support to identify and influence regulatory issues, specifically in Sabah which are likely to affect KPOC operations; prepare management reports and briefs for the SMT when needed.
7. Play an active role in KPOC's crisis management strategy, vetted by legal experts, notably media engagement.
8. Ensure HSSE requirements have been considered for KPOC's staff participation in stakeholder engagements.
9. Manage issuance of official external correspondences and engagements including tracking/recording.
10. Lead any external promotional activities to best represent the KPOC brand, e.g. any collaboration with PETRONAS, trade fairs, career fair, industry event, company profile, mainstream media, digital social media, collaboration etc.
11. Lead and manage KPOC's on-boarding process by leveraging on functional representatives and e-Learning portal for technical content and delivery.
12. Draft staff engagement materials for CEO or LT, i.e. festival greetings, quarterly update, year-end message, etc.
13. Plan and manage annual dinner, corporate event, quarterly staff engagement, festival celebration, lunch & learn or other organization wide events as and when necessary leveraging on resources from other functions i.e. Secretaries, Assistants, etc.
14. Manage compliance with national immigration and state government requirements matters in both East and West Malaysia to ensure relevant work permits and dependent passes are managed in a timely

Requirements

1. Degree qualified, experienced communications professional with over 10 years of experience (preference with experience in Oil & Gas Industry).
2. Has strong external relations experience and established relationships with regulators and government departments/agencies.
3. Strong communications background with track record experience in external affairs and/or media management.
4. Proven ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with government representatives and other stakeholders.
5. Proven skills to deliver under pressure.
6. Priority to Sabahan applicants.
