The Role:
* Carrying out accurate surveys of the site works. This will be done in co-operation with company Nuclear Site Engineers (as appropriate).
* Recording any problems encountered during the site works on relevant documentation i.e. Site Inspection Report, Non-conformance Report, Technical Clarification, Request for Information etc. and notify the Company Nuclear site Engineer-in-Charge of details at the earliest opportunity.
* Maintaining the documentation required for the site works.
* Ensuring compliance by Company Nuclear staff and sub-contractors with the requirements of the Contract, Clients Project Quality Plan, the Company Nuclear Quality Plan and associated documents.
* Producing a daily log of the works and forward to the Engineer-in-Charge on a daily basis.
* Understanding the inspection requirements applicable to the contract and to identify equipment needs and any potential inspection problems.
* Ensuring that correct inspection methods are used appropriate to the characteristics being measured and that suitably calibrated equipment is used.
* Ensuring that any non-conforming items are correctly designated "Quarantine" or "Non Conformance" and that appropriate procedures for disposition are applied.
* Ensuring that non-conforming items are correctly identified and that bonded areas are maintained.
* Ensuring that working documents, inspection and test reports, weld record sheets etc, are accurately completed in a timely manner, including those of sub-contractors.
* Auditing compliance by Company Nuclear staff and subcontractors with the requirements of the Contract and Quality Plans.
* In liaison with Company Nuclear Site Engineers, carrying out accurate surveys of the site works to enable progress of build consistent with the programme of works as appropriate.
* Maintaining the documentation required for the site works and recording any issues seen.
These duties are project specific and in addition to those described in the Company and project manuals and procedures.
The Site Surveyor/Inspector may be assisted in the execution of these duties by other Engineering staff. The services of the site establishment (e.g. safety, admin.) will also be available to him and full use should be made of these.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
ONC (or equivalent) in Engineering (minimum) or recognised apprenticeship in appropriate discipline. BS EN ISO 9001 Operations Experience Minimum 3 years Site Installation/Maintenance - appropriate industry sector. Note1: Inspection personnel will have (or attain) the qualifications appropriate to the discipline that they are to inspect within (eg IEE Regs Training, PCN, CSWIP) or to meet the requirements of the contract being serviced. Note2: All inspection personnel are subject to an annual vision test and are required to have natural/corrected near distance acuity in at least one eye.
