The Role:
The Contracts Manager (Subsea) works in a Project environment and is accountable to Project Managers with regards to tasks and to the Legal, Compliance and Contracts Manager for the method and process adopted to complete the tasks.
The Contracts Manager provides the contractual expertise in relation to activities, tender or projects allocated and assists the Project Manager in defining the best project strategy from a contractual position
The Contracts Manager support the objectives of the Project Manager for management of the contracts, including consortium or joint ventures agreement from award through completion and closeout.

Reporting Line: Project Management, Head of Subsea Contract Management ASIA
Internal Key Interactions: Legal & Contract Management, Project Management, Project Controls, Engineering, Procurement, HSE and Construction
External Key Interactions: Client

Duties in this position are varied and occasionally complex as they are related to the implementation of
contracts management
- Determines the work method approach from several existing methods in accordance with established policies
- Be aware that their actions, recommendations or decisions are of considerable significance involving adverse effects on the project, its' customers or personal relationships
- Thorough knowledge of contract formation and administration, home office and site procedures, including documents relating to a multi-discipline construction project is essential.
- Participates in all project meetings related to project status, progress, scope, cost and schedule
- Identifies the appropriate contract flow-down requirements for purchase orders and subcontracts
- Work closely with Project Controls to monitor the contract schedule performance and cost trends
- Prepares consolidated analysis of the contract terms and conditions to highlight the areas of risk and recommends their mediation
- Assist in review and analysis of project financial data and client progress payments and billings to ensure compliance with contract terms
- Assists Project Manager and/or Site Construction Manager in the preparation and negotiation of the changes to the contract baseline, as well as resolution of constructive contract changes with respect to additional compensation and time
- Works with other project team members to define Client's actions or inactions, which could result in contract changes.
- Coordinates and monitors compliance with the contract obligations, as assigned, including reviews of incoming and outgoing correspondence submittals, certificates of insurance, etc.
- Develops and implements the project Subcontracts Management Program
- Participates in the review and approval of bid tabulations and recommendations consistent with both Client requirements and project interests
- Ensures the monitoring of contract quality, cost and performance, and that all contractual duties and obligations are fulfilled by all parties to each subcontract
- Liaises with the line authority and with all of the other project departments
- Monitors all subcontract execution and assists with reviewing change orders, progress payments, disputes, bonds, letter of credit, insurance and etc
- Ensure final accounts are agreed for all subcontracts
- Works with the project team members in the identification, negotiation and resolution of Subcontractor and Vendor claims
- Participates in the drafting of all contract/commercial project lessons learned

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Recognized qualification to a degree level in Law or commercial discipline (e.g. Business Administration, Construction Management, Cost Engineering or Engineering) is preferable but not essential in lieu of work experience
- Minimum 5-6 years of relevant work experience in commercial/contract projects in the Oil & Gas industry

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Technical and administration background, ideally Engineering with specialization in the oil and gas industry, experience in similar role the offshore or subsea construction industry.
