The Role:
- Provide technical expertise in all areas of pipeline detailed engineering and design including:
o Pipeline routing, expansion, stability, global buckling analysis (upheaval and lateral), pipeline walking and
free span mitigation
o Spool and jumper design and in-place analysis
o Large diameter gas pipeline network system design, installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning
in both shallow and deep water
o Knowledgeable in pipeline material, welding, NDE and fracture mechanics (ECA) as well as strain based
design methodology according to DNV design codes
- Significant experience with pipeline design and installation in both shallow and deep water in s-lay, steep s-lay
and reel lay configuration
- Knowledgeable in the design of large diameter gas lines and particularly with respect to the requirements of
APL1104 and DNV-OSF-101.
- Knowledge of geotechnics would be an advantage.
The candidate shall be familiar with all aspects of rigid pipeline, flowline and flexible pipe design and manufacture for both
shallow water and deep water regimes:
- Familiar with pipeline design codes and standards used for the design, manufacture and installation of rigid and
flexible pipeline systems as well as their respective subsea pipeline system components (ILTs, FLETs, valve
modules, jumpers and spools, etc).
- Familiar with pipeline system welding and materials selection as well as the associated engineering requirements
would be an advantage.
- Familiar with pipeline system corrosion, painting and coating design requirements.
- Familiar with shallow water buried pipeline design aspects and installation methodologies including shallow water
pipeline routing, stability, global and upheaval buckling.
- Knowledge of large diameter trunk line and flowline installation in steep S-Lay, S-Lay and Reel lay methodologies
as well as installation of clad flowlines.
- Knowledgeable in pipeline strain based design, full scale fatigue testing, AUT systems definition and qualification
as well as fracture mechanics based ECA approach per BS7910 would be an advantage.
- Knowledgeable in pipeline system pre-commissioning and commissioning including for large diameter subsea gas
networks as well as CRA pipelines systems would be an advantage.
- Able to manage and coordinate the relationship with Paris Head Quarters and third party specialists to find
pragmatic solutions to engineering challenges.
- Review, comments and verifies contractors engineering
- Reviews and comments on specifications, requisitions, designs, procedures, layout arrangements and all
documentation issued by the design and installation contractors
- Assists with the management of the pipeline design and installation contractors
- Prepares and presents technical dossiers
- Reviews, comments participates and attends risk assessments
- Preparing technical specification and scopes of work
- Coordinates technical queries and complies responses
- Prepares scopes of work for verification contracts
- Manages and liaises with the engineering verification contractors
Assist in the development of pipeline inspection and intervention strategy and procedures to ensure the integrity and
sustainability of pipelines.
- Ability to get along well with others and take a pragmatic approach to problem solving situations.
- Ability to multi-task and work as part of small and flexible team.
- Desire to take responsibility for your area of work and to hold yourself accountable to deliver in line with those
responsibilities accordingly.
- Strong track record in offshore and subsea pipeline design with a minimum of 12 years relevant and direct
experience of pipeline system engineering and design.
- Fluency in the English language.
- Fluid communicator capable to represent the project in front of third parties and other stakeholders in a
professional and organized manner
- A bachelor's degree or greater in engineering is required with a preference for Mechanical or metallurgy
engineering preferred.
Base location: EPCI Contractor's offices (Houston, USA).
Duration of assignment: 2 years minimum (1 yearly contract renewal)
Travel: Limited international travel required.
