The Role:
Role Synopsis
Member of HSE Team providing support to the Wells organisation. The HSE Advisor reports to the Wells HSE Team Lead and is responsible for professional development of National HSE personnel. Also provides support and monitoring for the effectiveness of HSE processes and systems including application at contractor / sub-contractor sites.

The individual is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance and management of existing project HSE Standards and Wells specific procedures including contractor bridging documents.

The individual will work closely with the line organisation to ensure Health & Safety issues are being addressed and managed appropriately. Responsible for regular visits to field operations and proactively identifying risks and providing risk management solutions as well as identifying and managing gaps in contractor HSE Management systems.

Key Accountabilities

* The position works directly with the Drilling, Workover & Completions and Wells Services Line management organisations. The HSE Advisor reports to the project HSE organisation and will be expected to work closely with the Wells Leadership Team and the Wells Contractor Management to ensure Health & Safety issues are being addressed and managed appropriately.
* The HSE Advisor functions as a technical resource on the project HSE Procedures, Wells Standards, and best international safe working practices at all well sites within the oil field.
* Mentoring; The Wells HSE Advisor is responsible for the mentoring of Iraqi National Wells HSE personnel located at all Well locations; for developing a training plan and implementing the plan through goal setting, training and regular assessments of trainees.
* Coach HSE personnel in identifying sources of energy and the use of the "hierarchy of control" to manage risk
* Self-Verification; Provide the technical resource needed for compliance with the project Wells Self-Verification procedure and requirements.
* Contractor Oversight; Oversee and provide assurance the Wells contractors & third-party contractors are delivering all HSE requirements as agreed at Well sites within the project field. Conduct formal and informal audits, investigations and inspections of field, facilities and work in progress.
* HSE Communication; Participate and/or Facilitate the project sponsored safety meetings and forums with the Wells Organisation and Contractors.
* Support the line in maintaining HSE risk profile/registers to ensure that workplace/operational hazards are properly documented and controlled.
* Support Incident Investigations as required to determine root causes and development of corrective actions and coordinate responses with line leadership. Be the Root Cause Specialist as required to support HSE investigations.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Degree or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety discipline.
* Recognised professional Occupational Health & Safety certification.
* Strong execution delivery and interpersonal skills demonstrated in leadership and influencing in these areas.
* 10+ years of Oil & Gas industry experience in a variety of roles that demonstrate skills leading to progression. GWO field experience with rigs and rig-less Wells Operations is required.
* Significant experience using and supporting the company GWO Self-Verification process.
* Experience in developing a National workforce is preferred.
* Good presentation and persuasion skills with effective communication skills demonstrated internally and externally. Proven staff coaching and development skills.
* The ability to work as a team member aligned and committed to the team's success.
* A minimum of intermediate computer skills
