The Role:
The HSE Manager will be responsible for keeping people safe and protecting the business from prosecution by driving the process of ensuring that all safety legislation is adhered to. Also to make sure all Saica policies and H&S Framework control and management standards are known and are followed. They will plan, implement and review protective and preventative measures as required and work with the plant management team to continually reduce levels of workplace accidents/incidents.

Key Accountabilities:
* Keep people safe
* To ensure the safe and effective operation of machinery and equipment, buildings and premises within the framework of HSE
* To be site lead and reduce or eliminate risk. Working with the site management team to improve:
Risk assessment, Training and awareness of HSE, UWER compliance, Capital projects to improve HSE
* To lead and support accident/incident investigations through to preventative recommendations should they arise
* To achieve at least a budgetary performance in your areas of cost.
* To positively represent the site in all audits that relate to the role holders area of responsibility
* Any other reasonable request that are within your capabilities, that is safe and is required to meet the needs of business.

Key Result Areas
* No personal accidents
* Achieve/maintain new and current accreditations: ISO18001, ISO14001, Ethical and Legal compliance
* To support site management with the completion of H&S framework plans in time
* Weekly HSE KPI's specifically: No. of accidents with absence, RIDDORS, Near misses, Incidents/accidents without absence, Hazards reported, Behavioural safety observations
* Training Plans in place and actioned for all direct reports ensuring accurate records are kept on file.Essential Skills / Qualifications:

Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate people

A self-motivated individual with an organised approach and excellent communication skills

Ideal candidate will have excellent problem solving skills, a logical thought process and the ability to communicate at all levels.

Ideally be qualified to NEBOSH (or equivalent) standard, candidates should have a minimum 3-5 years experience in a FMCG environment, ideally within the packaging industry.

A proactive and flexible approach with a positive work ethic.
