The Role:
Purpose & Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Plant HSSE Manager, the HSSE Assurance Lead is responsible for the providing assurance activities specific to HSSE on the clients' project.
The HSSE Assurance Lead conducts HSSE Assessments across the business, focused primarily at the construction and fabrication sites (Kitimat and the Module Fabrication Yards in China). The HSSE Assurance Lead acts as the primary focal for the facilitation end execution of HSSE Assessments in accordance with the HSSE Assurance schedule.

Core accountabilities include:
* Contribute to an Incident & Injury Free culture supporting clients' aspiration in being the Safest Project on Earth.
* Lead and formulate the process for HSSE assurance activities at the Project sites.
* Management of HSSE Assurance Activities using a structured methodology providing assessments against contractual, company, contractor and subcontractor HSSE requirements.
* Utilize an assessment methodology to validate, measure and share findings on HSSE compliance across the organization.
* Lead HSSE Assurance Assessments including documentation review, interviews and observation to formulate a report targeted at continuous improvement.
* Liase with Contractors and subcontractors on the integration of HSSE continuous improvement opportunities.
* Lead and support development of HSSE Assessment tools and processes to facilitate HSSE compliance across the organization, including development of HSSE improvement plans as required.
* Follow through on action closure from HSSE Assessment findings and recommendations
* Reporting out on HSSE Assessments to the site leadership team and project executive.
* Support awareness of HSSE compliance through all levels of the construction and fabrication organization.

* It is expected that the successful candidate for this position will work from the Kitimat Plant Site Location with frequent business travel to other project locations including (but not limited to) Zhuhai and Qingdao, China.
* High paced work environment with multiple stakeholder interfaces.
* Interface coordination between functional teams and across the Contractor organizations as appropriate
* Domestic and International travel will be required to support regulatory, contractor and stakeholder engagements.

Skills & Requirements:
* Minimum of 4-year Degree related to Occupational Health & Safety or a similar technical background with increased experience.
* Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety compliance requirements in Canada and China, in particular related to project development and construction
* Proven capability and experience in high risk construction activities, including but not limited to road transport, human/machine interface, working at heights, confined space entry, hazardous energy and lifting & rigging), as it relates to Fabrication and Construction.
* Expertise in management system design, implementation and continual improvement, specifically as it relates to HSSE management systems.
* Highly skilled in compliance verification principles and processes
* Proficient in Microsoft systems including Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with building relationships with internal and external parties.
* Good listening, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, good team working skills in multi-cultural environment.
* Demonstrated experience with HSSE audit processes and execution
* Working knowledge of HSSE management system design, implementation, assurance and continual improvement.
