OUr client, a LNG producer, is seeking an IT Lead based in Calgary, Alberta.

Purpose & Accountabilities:

The IT Lead shall assume the end-to-end responsibility for the delivery of the IT scope through the execution phase of the project, which also includes the necessary corporate IT required to support the Venture and requirements to stand up the IT capabilities and services for the Asset phase of the project. This position will also provide the IMIT Manager with general programme and project management support.

The IT scope in a Capital Project covers the deployment of a broad spectrum of IT Solutions components: applications, infrastructure, workforce productivity and information management tools. The scope also includes oversight and provisioning of IT support services to the corporate venture organization.

The top accountabilities of the IT Lead include:

1) Contribute to safe, quality, and efficient operating environment during project execution and asset operations through delivery of Information Technology solutions and services; 2) Optimize value delivery and business transformation to (venture, Project, and Asset) through digitalization and enablement of staff and business productivity / efficiencies / collaboration; 3) Lead and coordinate high performing integrated virtual team of IT professionals (PM's, BA's, delivery teams); 4) Provide technical assurance expertise and leadership to project IT deliverables, either directly or via extended team; 5) Provide overall monitoring and controlling support of integrated IMIT delivery plan on behalf of IMIT Manager.

Further detailed activities and responsibilities of the IT Lead include:

1) The IT Lead is required to demonstrate visible leadership as well as personal commitment to Health, Safety, Information Security, and the Environment; 2) Plan, assure, safeguard, and execute the Company IT Project scope leveraging: Project Delivery Framework (PDF), Management of change and change control process, ITIL best practices, and Shell and Market based standard solutions; 3) Assure the delivery by the EPC contractor IT Scope of Work and delivery, including oversight of Process Control Domain and Field Telecom deliverables; 4) Continually develop and execute the Project IT Plan, ensuring alignment with the overall Project Execution Plan and operations readiness handover plans; 5) Plan, implement, and handover an integrated and permanent suite of applications, systems, and infrastructure to the asset IT organization; 6) Oversee delivery and performance of IT services and support to the organization across all locations; 7) Plan, resource, and lead an extended team of IT project and service delivery professionals in value delivery - including building sustainable IT capability for asset phase of the company; 8) Understand, effectively define, and monitor both internal and external organizational interfaces and the roles & responsibilities within the project IT team.


1) the client has limited capability for delivery and leverages a combination of services from Shell and other third parties in a global virtualized landscape; 2) Complex interfaces across organizational, cultural, geographically diverse environment within the organization, EPC organization, and Shell projects/delivery organizations; 3) Agile delivery of IT Plan incorporating most current learnings, market innovations, and digitalization value opportunities within the constraints of the plan and not impacting Organizational capability and delivery;

Skills & Requirements:

1) Previous Experience and Exposure: * Substantial experience in the oil and gas industry as IT project, programme, and/or change manager * Previous experience of working in an Operations IT and/or in Capital Project IT environments will be a distinct advantage * Broad scope of experience across both application and infrastructure delivery areas a distinct advantage * Previous exposure to the Upstream / Downstream environment in a project engineering or discipline engineering role is desirable but not essential. 2) Technical and Business skills: * Expert knowledge of the Information Technology domain, including deep understanding of the technology trends (both in Shell and in the broader industry context) and typical Upstream / Downstream applications, infrastructure solutions, and telecoms required to deliver a Capital Project * Proven track record in delivering IT projects meeting cost, schedule and quality targets, and managing associated risks and issues * Experienced in managing a series of projects as single program * Proven ability to apply industry best practice project management methodology such as the Shell Project Delivery Framework * Sound knowledge of the Engineering and Maintenance workflows and the role of engineering data management in a Capital Project * Sound understanding of the Opportunity Realization Standard (ORS), DCAF process, Project Standards and the DEP framework is highly desirable (or industry equivalent) * Proven ability to successfully manage and implement business changes in the IT project execution * Industry recognized project management certification (e.g. PMP, Prince2 or other) will be a distinct advantage * Solid understanding of the typical contracting and procurement processes in a Capital Project and cost recovery issues in a Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) environment will be a distinct advantage * Understanding of typical safety risks in a Capital Project environment is highly desirable * IT TA2 Certifications is highly desirable (or industry equivalent).
