The Role:
Purpose & Accountabilities:
The Sr. Construction Engineer will support the successful delivery of the Utilities and Offsites scope and the wider construction execution planning scope of the Plant Project meeting HSSE, Quality, Schedule and cost targets while maintaining strong relations with external stakeholders (including local communities, first nations, regulators and JV partners), EPC contractor and subcontractors.
The Sr. Construction Engineer will oversee the management of various complex interfaces and will oversee the construction planning of the Plant scope as delivered by the EPC Contractor and Subcontractors.
He/she shall have excellent knowledge of the owner obligations in the contract and will enable the EPC Contractor to execute the contract work by monitoring performance, identifying issues early and engaging appropriately.

Accountabilities: HSSE:
* Works closely with the Client and EPC contractor organizations to grow and nurture a strong HSSE culture supporting HSSE performance and goal zero, to meet Client's vision to build the Safest Project on Earth
* Act as key player in the development of the design for safe construction program.
* Supports or leads incident investigations where required.

Accountabilties: Construction execution planning and interface management
* Deliver on the construction execution planning activities including providing owners team oversight on the EPC Contractor ensuring development and implementation, meeting contractual requirements and on-time, of various construction planning activities including:
o Advanced Work Planning
o completion process and systems
o construction automation
o construction supervision planning
o undergrounds work planning
o offsites fabrication planning
o lifting and hauling planning
o weather management planning; and
o overall construction execution planning
* Reviews and provides Technical Authority assurance for the deliverables related to above listed topics and leads the coordination of input from various disciplines providing timely consistent and concise comments focusing on ensuring the Contract Specifications are met
* Provides leadership and oversight on the constructability program, actively participates in constructability reviews and monitors qualtiy implementation of constructabilty items.
* Supports several other construction execution planning activities including:
o Mechanical completions planning
o Predressing planning
* Where required acts as interface coordinator working with the EPC Contractor to facilitate external interfaces where required
* Has a good understanding of the project schedule including regulatory and permitting requirements and key project risk and ensure issues related to the above interfaces and challenges related to construction execution planning are managed appropriately identifying and escalating issues through the line
* Communicates construction highlights, decisions, issues/concerns to Area Project Manager U&O for incorporation on Project updates, JV update, and feedback to EPC Contractor
* Acts as the flawless delivery focal point for construction and works with the Flawless project deliveray teams to plan for successful flawless construction delivery implementation during construction.
* Supports audits
* Supports, together with the Area Project Manager Utilities and Off-Sites, the EPC contractor to deliver the scope of the Utilities an Off-sites area and manage contract issue resolution
* Responds to letters, supports input into technical queries and technical deviation request where required and provides general Project Engineering support
* Collates, implement and capture relevant lessons construction lessons learned and provides oversight on construction lessons learned process by EPC Contractor.
* Acts as deputy for the Area Project Manager Utiities and Off-sites where required

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

* A passion for safety in execution, and having the knowledge and courage to achieve HSE extraordinary results
* Degree - Minimum of Bachelor degree in engineering or equivalent
* Minimum 10-15 years hands-on experience in onshore mega construction projects, both in home office construction execution planning and construction, in-Canada Construction experience is a prefered.
* Minimun 5 yeas of owners team experience during execution preparation phase.
* Ability to motivate a team of matrix resources and EPC contractor towards a common goal, despite globally distributed work teams.
* Expert in the field of construction and brings strong knowledge of (engineering for safe) construction processes, deliverables and methods.
* Strong contract management experience in executing large lumpsum contract with some of the largest global contractors
* Displaying a professional attitude and resilience to a fast-paced working environment
* Excellent communic
