The Role:
Due to on-going project requirements, my client is looking for an experienced Functional Safety Engineer.

The engineer is responsible for safety development for complex systems across a wide variety of industries. The engineer will work with cross-functional teams to design and develop products in compliance with ISO 26262 and similar industry safety standards. In addition, the responsibilities of the Engineer will be to successfully demonstrate the client's excellent reputation while working directly with customers on their projects. This will also involve writing, reviewing, and submitting proposals in support of these efforts and working to continue the growth of the business related to system safety development.

Key Responsibilities:
- Functional Safety (FuSa) activities within
- Guide our clients customers to develop both new and existing systems/technologies in compliance with ISO26262.
- Lead and support cross-functional teams on FuSa matters across the entire V-Model lifecycle
- Customer facing opportunities - Professional communication skills to be able to present and interact with clients.
- International travel opportunities - Willingness to travel and eligibility to travel to the US and the EU.

Functional Safety (FuSa) Requirements:
- General FuSa and/or specific ISO 26262 training and experience desired. Knowledge and experience of ISO 26262; familiarity with other FuSa standards (e.g. IEC 61508).
- Had a key input into, or delivered projects in compliance with ISO26262 and led FuSa development across the entire V-Model lifecycle (from concept through development, production and operation).
- Able to focus on the key aspects of hazards and safety risks, whilst providing FuSa input to technical engineering solutions; experience of projects with different levels of safety risk/integrity (ASIL) is desirable.
- Able to input to safety task estimation, planning and control is desirable.
- Knowledge and experience of complementary safety analysis techniques (e.g. Hazop, FHA, FFA, FTA, FMEA and DFMEA) is required; able to select techniques based on applicability.
- Safety requirements specification and management experience is beneficial.
- Safety Assessment: Demonstrated ability in interpreting and assessing complex vehicle systems-of-systems and architectures in regards to FuSa is required.
- Safety Audit: Some exposure to safety process audits is desirable; a clear understanding of the link between FuSa, verification and validation (V&V) is necessary.
- Collation of information into a coherent safety case is required; understanding the key principles of risk mitigation and acceptable/residual risk is necessary; preparing risk-oriented arguments is desirable.
