The Role:
This job provides an opportunity to join a high performing team responsible for delivering the training needs of over 650 members of staff across the Engineering and Asset Management team. This role provides direct line management of the Heathrow Advanced Engineering Apprentices (circa 40 in total) and the Professional Development Trainees as well as helping to develop, source and deliver a number of technical training programmes to the diverse technical community. This position assesses and defines technical competency for the engineering and asset management function. The applicant must have a sound knowledge of training practices and be able to assess competency and define bespoke development plans for staff at all levels of the engineering organisation

This role forms a key part of the centrally based Engineering Training and Development team and is the centre co-ordinator for the EAL accredited apprenticeship scheme.

Principle accountabilities
* EAL Centre Management - Including OFSTED reviews of the Heathrow Centre, Verifier Co-ordination and defining assessment routes.
* Budget management - responsible for ensuring accurate reporting of P and L for both HR and Engineering funded training
* Assess and evaluate the competency of all technician staff
* Be competent to create a training needs analysis assessment based on business needs, statutory requirements and succession planning
* Review competency against defined matrices and issue development/training programmes
* Deliver competent person training to DEL and CEL
* Responsible for providing verification of all NVQ3 modules forming the Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme. Including:
* Completing assessment plans
* Providing training and guidance on evidence collation
* Making judgement and providing feedback
* Engagement with Business Economic Development activities in surrounding area, promoting the Heathrow brand and the Modern Apprenticeship Scheme in a positive and beneficial manner
* Line management and coaching of both apprentice and professional development trainees

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Excellent IT skills able to deliver comprehensive powerpoint, excel and word documents and be willing to learn Cornerstone LMS, Oracle and Claro E Learning content
Qualified A1 (D32/33) NVQ Assessor or a sound knowledge of NVQ modules and be willing to attain assessor certification
* Train the Trainer accreditation
* Demonstrable leadership skills
* SHL Testing experience/accreditation
* Experience of assessing and observing behavioural and technical skills
* Comprehension of the need for competency assessment and the various ways in which this can be delivered
* Ideally an ONC or 5 years equivalent experience in an Engineering discipline, but also take into account high level of competence in other areas of training, development and IT systems
