The Role:
* This is a site based construction support role, assisting with redefining solutions when site conditions vary from design assumptions, answering technical queries and ensuring drawn records are updated as construction progresses.
* The role involves the delivery of high quality design work through developing project and technical knowledge. This is an opportunity to assist in a small design team supporting the contractor.
* As a technician with experience (minimum of 2 years) of Infrastructure projects, we want to ensure that you continue to develop your technical expertise and career.
* To achieve this, you will have the opportunity to work in a stimulating and challenging project environment, and so enhancing the overall capability. The job is primarily based at Sellafield site in Cumbria.
* Reporting to site lead Responsible Engineer
* Working with the construction team to ensure suitable solutions are developed based on site conditions and constraints
* Working with document control team to ensure the records are updated correctly and the quality of information produced is of a suitable level
* Ensuring accuracy of completed records by coordination with site engineers

The Company:
Our client is an independent firm of designers, planners, engineers, consultants and technical specialists working across every aspect of today's built environment.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* HND in Civil Engineering, Topographic Surveying or related discipline;
* Drafting in 2D;
* Demonstrate a sound technical base with experience in civil engineering;
* Demonstrate experience in designing civil infrastructure; (knowledge of Sellafield Ltd considered an asset).
Demonstrate experience in the use of the following software packages:
* CAD packages - AutoCAD
* Usual office software i.e. Word, Excel etc.
* Communication skills to discuss solutions, constraints with construction team and engineering teams.
* Clean driving license.
* DBS

Security
The role holder will be required to obtain the following clearances if not already held:
* Baseline Security Clearance
* P4 Pass

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
* Drafting in 3D;
* Appropriate formal education and ideally a Technician or Associate Member of (or working towards) the ICE or related professional body;
* Understand the principles of project and contract management;
* Previous experience in a site based role
* Demonstrate good written communication skills and will be able to explain their work confidently to internal and external colleagues;
* Good team player and supportive of the other disciplines;
* Highly motivated and with a desire to tackle interesting problems with the opportunity of finding innovative solutions.
* Experience of applying BIM on projects and be aware of the benefits and challenges
