Assembly Technician (Surface mount/manufacturing)

The Role:
Initially candidates will work normal days at flat rate during training (approx. 2 weeks). It is expected that the candidate will then move to the following shift pattern.

Shift early 06:00hrs to 14:00 hrs attracts 20% uplift
Shift late 14:00 hrs to 22:00 hrs attracts 20% uplift
Some weekend working Saturday or Sunday may be required at peak times.

* Hand assembly and soldering of electronic PCB's, micro integrated circuits to ESA/ MIL SPEC standards
* Trained in Clean Room disciplines and procedures
* Completion of assembly work and the recording in relevant documentation in line with AIT processes, and company lean and quality standards
* Previous experience of manufacturing processes, machines and tooling including cleaning tanks, tape bonding, vacuum attachment of modules and component forming
* Working to electrical drawings, wiring schedules and BOMS (Bills of Material)
* Maintaining 5S principles and carry out daily audits to keep integration areas (tools, toolboxes, workstations, etc.) clean and organised
* Use of chemical adhesives, epoxies and glues. Including weighing, mixing and traceability control
* Understanding of Health and Safety requirements and controls including COSHH

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Demonstrable experience using binocular microscopes
* ESA qualifications would be of great benefit but experience of working to a similar standard most important e.g. PSS -01-708 - High Reliability Soldering, PSS-01-738 - High Reliability SMT Soldering. Held for a minimum period of 2 years, current holder of a valid certificate. PSS-01-728 - PCB Rework
* Demonstrable experience in high reliability manufacturing envoronment
* Experience within a clean room environment in a similar industry
* Computer literate and experience with reading and working from drawing instructions

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
* Experience in a Space Manufacturing Assembly line
* Use of SAP preferred not essential
