The Role:
A vacancy for a Spacecraft Thermal Architect has arisen at a market leading company within the Defence & Space industry.

The successful applicant will be joining and working on Scientific and Earth Observation spacecraft missions in the client's UK Mechanical, Thermal & Propulsion System Engineering Department.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

* Detailed spacecraft level thermal design and architecture
* Definition of, and support to, system level thermal testing
* Definition and approval of requirements & installation drawings
* Preparation of design documentation
* Evaluation of equipment and system level test results
* Cost/schedule support
* Non Conformance Report/Material Review Board support at equipment and system level
* System mechanical/electrical/Telemetry Telecommand (TTC)/Attitude Orbit Control (AOCS) interfacing
* Support to manufacturing, assembly and integration activities
* Design review/Test Readiness Review/Test Review Board support
* Operational support
* Reporting to internal and external stakeholders on progress
* Identify critical schedule areas early and take action

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Thermal design and build at spacecraft level, ideally in scientific and earth observation missions
* Spacecraft thermal balance/thermal vacuum testing
* Experience of interfacing with other disciplines e.g. Structures/Propulsion/Electrical/AOCS/TTC/Operations
* Good communication and presentation skills
* Interfacing with both internal and external customers
* Willingness to travel
