The Role:
Role Purpose:
Working within the Integration group, and reporting into a wide range of projects, the successful individual will have a good knowledge of CAE analysis tools & processes and be able to adapt to mechanical & composite systems as projects dictate

Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for proving and optimising a range of designs from initial concepts through to production. This will involve working closely with a range of customers from SME's to major OEM's to interpret their requirements and deliver engineered solutions within weight, cost and timing targets.

Operational Duties:

* FEA analysis and optimization of high performance structural components and sub-assemblies in response to: service loads, crash, stiffness, NVH & fatigue requirements.
* Working with a variety of material types; metallic, non-metallic, composite
* Being able to take decisions based on analysis in order to provide guidance on design maturation.
* Presentation, reporting and discussion of analysis results:
* Attend design reviews to present design ideas and to discuss and critique alternative design solutions.
* Work closely with project Technical Lead to achieve compliance of designs with customer, legislative and WAE requirements.
* Work closely with purchasing and production departments to ensure cost and manufacturing capability.
* Assist in generating and presenting project material.
* Problem solving and fault rectification.
* Correlation of CAE analysis with physical test, attending component tests as required.
* Assist in the development of CAE and manual calculation methods

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Experience and Qualifications:

* A Degree in mechanical, automotive, or aerospace engineering.
* Experience of structural CAE analysis in one or more of the following branches: dynamic, static and modal.
* Experience in the automotive industry of fatigue analysis and the use of commercial tools such as nCode and FEMFAT would be preferred (or being able to show that your fatigue experience in another advanced engineering environment is transferable).
* Working knowledge of metallic material specifications and treatments.
* Good general CAE literacy in the main automotive/aerospace FEA software packages including one or more of the following: Abaqus, LsDyna, NASTRAN, Altair Hyperworks
* Knowledge of automotive test procedures and homologation protocols (FMVSS, ECER, etc) would be useful.
* Working knowledge of CATIA V5, Siemens NX 7.5 or TeamCentre would be useful.
* Good working knowledge of proprietary PC software e.g. MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
* Ability to use your init
