The Role:
Production Engineers

Reports to the Managing Director

Purpose

To provide manufacturing advice and support to the design process and R&D activity for a hybrid electric automotive project. Contributing effective production processes to optimise the proposed manufacturing plan, utilising lean techniques so that quality products are produced, on time and on budget.

Responsibilities

* To provide day to day production support for manufacturing and liaison with Company Research & Development dept.
* Provide advice to the design team with regards to standards and processes for manufacture.
* Apply lean principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.
* Deliver capable processes and tools for production operations.
* Create 'step by step' standard operating procedures for the product design.
* Train and coach the engineering team in the use of lean manufacturing methods to maximize efficiency throughout the team.
* To work with the team with regards to project planning, selection of equipment and suppliers.
* An ambassador driving continuous improvement in lean manufacturing, safety, quality and efficiency.

Technical Expertise

* Degree or equivalent in Production Engineering / Manufacturing Systems.
* A high level of competence and practical application experience to support and develop lean and design manufacturing processes.
* Six Sigma Black Belt in lean manufacturing and expertise gained within the heavy duty automotive arena is desirable.
* The ability to analyse CAD to transfer to manufacturing, experience and knowledge of Catia V6 and ideally Solidworks
* The ability to articulate in written format the design for manufacture, for ease of production is essential.
* CNC Machining operations and production experience

NOTE: Hiring on contract basis but also considering permanent.
