The Role:
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Mining Engineer to join our client, a major Gold Mining company on a 6 month contract and an 8/6 FIFO roster. The role purpose is to facilitate the optimal extraction of gold ore from mining operations through the provision of a comprehensive production planning, scheduling service that achieves short to medium production and development targets, ensuring maximum returns to the business in alignment with HSE standards.

Key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

* Assist in the development of the departmental business plan, encouraging full participation and buy-in from team members
* Assist in coordinating the activities of planning, production and contractors in carrying out the daily work plan and ensure that their activities are aligned with meeting operational targets
* Secure the success of the mine through the achievement of planned production and safety targets by assisting in the development of weekly and monthly plans
* Assist the mining team with the control and coordination of weekly mine production planning meetings
* Create competent, consistent and optimal drill and blast designs
* Ensure that all statutory responsibilities and obligations of the Underground Ventilation Officer are fulfilled in a timely manner
* Identify risks and threats as well as develop, establish and manage programs to ensure risks are minimised or eliminated
* Apply knowledge, skills and abilities in the provision of technically sound mining engineering advice
* Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement by contributing to the optimisation of systems, process and practices
* Provide on-going leadership and mentoring for graduates and cadets and assisting the Senior Mining Engineer in the effective use of the Performance Management System


The Company:
Our client is a leading Gold Mining Major with mine sites across Australia, South Africa, Ghana and Peru. This prestigious company has aggressive expansion plans and is the company of choice amongst their competitors.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

* Qualifications in Mining Engineering
* Production with operational experience, preferably underground gold
* Drill and blast and production scheduling experience
* Demonstrated Proficiency in mining software such as Deswik
* Current C Class Manual Driver's Licence
