Summarized Job Description:

  • The RBI Engineer is responsible for:
  1. ensuring a consistent application of RBI within Fircroft.
  2. providing support and coaching to the Fircroft Inspection Team in RBI.
  3. developing, operationalizing, review and update RBI work instructions in Fircroft w-IMS (w-PEI and w-PLSS).
  4. providing mechanical and RBI engineering as well as operational support for the Fircroft Assets.
  5. development of Plant Inspectors to support the RBI and Pressure Equipment Integrity Management Program for Fircroft.

Competence Requirements:
Specify fabrication, installation, repair and refurbishment methods.
Specify material QA/QC needs in manufacturing, procurement and installation.
Develop, implement and run asset integrity management systems including, for example, risk assessment, integrity work planning, integrity assessment, knowledge and data management, management of change, emergency response.
Define, perform and interpret results of an integrity assessment including fitness for service, remaining life assessment, etc.
Assess asset repair and replacement requirements.
Conduct NDT contractor competency tests.
Develop inspection schedules and plans.
Inspect static equipment (including piping).
Specify methods and conduct QA/QC for standard maintenance repairs and replacements.
Record/report and analyse data in Inspection Data Management Systems.
Interpret analyses and test results and evaluate failure.

Additional Special Skills/Abilities Needed:

  • Skill in principles and application of Risk Based Inspection
  • Knowledge of the relation between materials, process parameters/conditions and failure mechanisms and their criticality concerning technical integrity of pressure equipment
  • Knowledge of standard NDE processes and relevant degradation mechanism.
  • Awareness of specialised NDE processes.
  • Ability to accomplish goals which require resources outside span of control.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities to build ownership toward the asset and maximize results delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with Stakeholders, inclusive of; Upstream Asset Management, the wider Fircroft Teams, all level of employees and external parties.
  • Work through others to achieve results.
  • Identify and implement effective courses of action to complete work and ensure achievement of departmental goals.
  • Exercise independent judgement and initiative within established guidelines.
  • Manage projects and processes effectively.
  • Must also be an excellent team player, be able to mentor, coach and inspire less experienced team members in own sphere of competencies and integrated areas.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency calls as needed and work extended hours as appropriate.
  • Off-site and offshore travel required.

Educational requirements:

  • Mechanical Engineering Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University; AND/OR
  • 8-10 years Oil and Gas industry experience.
  • API510 Pressure Vessel Inspector Certification.
  • API570 Piping Inspector Certification.
  • API580 - Risk Based Inspection Certification.
  • API653 - Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector Certification.
