The Role:

Organizational Structure

  • Job holder will report to the Well Engineering Team Leader.

Key Accountabilities

  • Demonstrate a high commitment to HSSE thereby actively promoting and contributing to Company's HSSE Rules and use of Safety Tools.
  • Ensure that drilling activities are carried out in accordance with the company HSEMS and HSE policies and standards.
  • Monitor the HSE, operational, commercial & technical performance of the units and contractors under his control, measure the quality of the products and services and formulate routes for improvement.
  • Prepares Drilling Programs/ Load out list for each well.
  • Liaise with vendors, chair pre-job planning meetings, manage interface between rig contractor and services providers.
  • Monitor the daily drilling operations.
  • Actively pursue and mature performance improvement opportunities in efficient execution to drive total cost of ownership down without compromise to safety performance or quality.
  • Manage compliance with relevant systems & procedures for executing Drilling activities
  • Liaison with the representatives from the Geology, Reservoir and Production Departments during the planning, execution, and post-well analysis stages for each well.
  • Perform detailed well engineering design analysis (Casing Design Analysis including Tri-axial Analysis and Well Cat Modelling, Drilling Hydraulics, Torque and Drag.
  • Preparation of Detailed Drilling Design Report
  • Preparation of Well AFE's and other documentation required for approval to proceed with Well Drilling Operations.
  • Plans, implements, and monitors drilling fluid properties daily and ensures that post-well mud appraisal reports are prepared by the drilling fluid contractor. Check invoices.
  • Plans, implements, and monitors cementing design proposals and ensures that post-well cementing appraisal reports are prepared by the cementing companies.
  • Organises DWOP / Pre-Spud Meetings /


  • Minimum of a BSc degree in an Engineering Field.

Experience Needed

  • Minimum of 8 years' (preference will be for 10 + year's) experience in a Drilling Engineering Role
  • Prior rig site experience is required

Skills and Attributes

  • Good appreciation of how their role and decisions can impact on safety performance.
  • Knowledge in how drilling operations are conducted on a floating drilling unit.
  • Good knowledge of how the drilling process interacts with completions and SURF disciplines.
  • Good written and spoken skills in the English Language.
  • Good inter-personal communication skills.
  • Capable of working under pressure with a track record of delivery.
