The Role:
Scope of Work

This position is situated under HSE-Q Department and will be reporting to Head of Environment, Health & Industrial Hygiene.

The responsibilities are:

* Deliver environmental studies and research which are required for the permit applications and extension; and the commitment to external stakeholders.
* Define Scope of Work for Environmental Studies and Research
* Timely delivery of environmental studies and research are as per the intended scope, schedule and budget.
* Provide technical advice on environmental management issues to ensure that sound environment management, legal compliance and minimize the potential environmental impacts and damages can be prevented.
* Ensure that the environmental risk assessment is conducted for all major projects or modifications
* Identify potential negative impacts of an operation and define mitigation and communicate to relevant entities.
* Ensure implementation of mitigation of negative impacts of NOC's activities on the environment.
* Ensure that contractors act responsibly according to their contractual responsibilities.
* Ensure environmental permitting requirements for new projects are met for legal compliance
* Contribute to the preparation of ISO 14001:2015 EMS for the Company.
* Ensure that environmental procedures/plans required for the implementation during project phase are well developed.
* Identify environmental studies which are required to ensure sustainable development and legal compliance of existing or new activities.
* Deliver Environmental Studies which include environmental risk assessment (ERA), environmental identification (ENVID), ESIA and ESBS, and Environmental statement of requirements for project/engineering requirements.
* Prepare SOWs, identify bidders, launch CFTs, evaluated bidders, carry out technical recommendations in cooperation with Contract and Procurement.
* Manage environmental studies and ensure successful delivery of study objectives, on time and on budget.
* Manage survey teams that are involved the field data collection for baseline studies.
* Coordinate with relevant departments to gather necessary data for the application document which may be required for permit application.
* Coordinate to develop relevant environmental management plan for Company projects.
* Supervise the implementation of EMP by Contractor during project phase.
* Ensure continual improvement in the implementation of EMP, and gather relevant data for reporting to authorities as per Environmental Permit of the project.
* Coordinate to carry out compliance evaluation of the project with reference to the relevant environmental permit., and prepare environmental project close out report.
* Maintain awareness and ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and Company HSE standards.
* Coordinate to audit and inspect the implementation of EMP through periodic monitoring, audit/inspection programs.
* Ensure that ESIA recommendations and commitments are incorporated within project's EMP for implementation at site level.
* Coordinate to define appropriate research projects which are relevant to Al Shaheen operations.
* Provide inputs for budget expenditure and planning.
* Other activities which may arise and are related to the job assignment.

Profile required:

* At minimum, Master degree in environmental engineering, natural sciences or related discipline
* 10 years professional experience in an environment team in an operational setting (preferably offshore, oil and gas or other similar industry)
* Thorough knowledge and understanding of local environmental legislation.
* Thorough understanding of globally accepted ESIA methods and Environmental Risk Assessment Methodology.
* Good understanding of International best practices and standards e.g. IFC, IPIECA
* Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines
* Project Management skills
* Strong report writing and analytical skills
