The Role:
To provide high quality accounting and tax information in line with DFA/JVA and IFRS requirements.
To comply to legal and financial obligation imposed on Company for all issues related accounting, taxes and audit.
Knowledge and Observance of Company HSE policy, rules and procedures
Participation to HSE activities and global improvement (e.g. referential, reporting, REX, audits, trainings, HSE action plans…)
Team Leadership
Set the long-term vision for the General Accounting team. Share with team and monitor progress.
Accounting for Company in line with IFRS and all legal and contractual principles, in order to give a true and fair image of the company, of its assets and liabilities, its financial situation, results and performances;
Preparation of reliable and timely accounting information, including annual balance sheets and profit & loss statements for issue to local publication;
Strongly contribute to the closure process in SAP System (PALM) and ensure all accounting tasks related to this process are fully controlled by the closure team under General Accounting;
Ensure Asset register is designed, updated and maintained as per DFA/JVA and shareholders requirements;
Provide relevant analysis for accounting aggregates and indicators such as working capital variation, depreciation, inventory, provisions.
Ensuring consistency with Treasury team for all entries related to banks including banks reconciliations;
Fulfilment of local financial and legal obligations imposed on Company;
Preparing and filing of statistical financial information to Governmental Agencies;
Timely and well documented reconciliation of account balances.
Liaising with internal and external auditors and coordinating Finance sections of audits performed by them to ensure an efficient execution of their work (statutory audits, shareholder audits, tax audits and internal audit)
Liaising with the Audit team of Company to define the internal audit program (where applicable to Finance);
Prepares and participates in intermediary meeting with auditors and to audit close-out;
Participates, in support of the Lead Compliance and Master data, to the follow-up and resolution of audit claims that are related to its area of responsibility.
Preparing tax returns and tax statements for Qatar Petroleum and the relevant tax authorities;
Providing subsequent information and explanation necessary to the assessment process;
Defending Company position in relation with audit exceptions raised by QP and the relevant tax office(s);
Following-up tax payments and ensuring complete compliance with DFA terms of payment.
Ensuring Company tax compliance, defending its position in any tax argumentation and seeking optimization when possible. It provides direct support and advice within Company in all areas of Qatari taxation (DFA taxes, corporate tax, VAT, other indirect taxation or contributions), and generally speaking ensures coordination of Company activities from a taxation point of view.;
Ensuring robustness of tax calculation through a tax proof and by reconciling with Financial Planning figures and Monthly statements of payments for taxes;
Ensuring deferred taxes are accounted for correctly and analyzed regularly;
Advisory Role and Controls
Interpret the International Financial Reporting Standards and analyze requirement for implementation of new rules providing expert advice and assistance thereon. Amend Accounting Policies as required.
Accountable for compliance with DFA and JVA requirements in matters of accounting and application of IFRS.
Promote good accounting practices and maintain a high level of awareness about standards evolution.
Defining and enforcing the implementation of adequate management controls and tools to meet the above objectives. Responsible for compliance with relevant procedures and with the Internal Control Framework.
Profile Required
Strong Accounting knowledge (IFRS / ASC932). Ability to analyze deferred taxes, working capital, ARO, etc.
Expert in SAP including BW. Some knowledge of Hyperion Essbase would be a plus
Good knowledge of Tax regulations in Qatar including Withholding Taxes, VAT, Corporate Income Tax…
Strong organizational skills including planning managements, maintain clear records for audit traceability.
Excellent knowledge of internal and external audit requirements.
Leadership skills, strong communication skills, ability to coach and develop team members, ability to work transversally and to constructively challenge and influence others.
Expert at Excel and PowerPoint, incl. ability to build complex models. Fluent in English (written and spoken).
A minimum of 8-10 years relevant experience in a similar field, in Oil & Gas
2-3 years Management experience
