The Role:
This is a permanent and residential position based in the Head Office under Field Operations Maintenance and Inspection/Inspection. A tax free salary and comprehensive benefits package with family status, children's educational assistance and others is on offer for the right candidate.
The purpose of this function is to assure that the different corrosion threats have been identified, mitigated when necessary and monitored/reported and fed into RBI principles. The scope covers corrosion processes, corrosion controls (material selection, cathodic protection, chemical inhibition, operational pigging and coating technology), assessment of effectivity (sampling analysis, inspection data review and RBI) and failure analysis/relevant assessment for ALL Al-Shaheen facilities, including interface with FSO/marine contractor defined corrosion management principles. Scope includes all hydrocarbon processing equipment, water injection systems, service systems topside, pipelines, export network (inc. an FSO/marine interface) and the supporting structure.
Job Dimensions 
Perform role of Technical Responsible Person (TRP) for the provision of technical solutions to all corrosion and material selection challenges throughout the existing, and planned expansion phases of the Al-Shaheen facilities. 
Focal Point for all corrosion management activities/proposals within Field Operations for existing. 
Support Major and Brown Field projects regards corrosion mitigation/control, providing technical expertise. 
Define chemical inhibition protocols and support the Chemicals Management Team providing subject matter expert input. 
Define corrosion control protocols via interfaces below; monitor compliance and report. 
Maintain close interfaces with Operations, Process, Production Treatment, Laboratory, Inspection and relevant contracting teams as required to ensure corrosion controls are maintained as defined, monitored and reported on; including variation to specification, such that the operational integrity envelope is maintained at all times. 
Oversee, and where necessary, manage company/contractor activities relating to corrosion management
Activities 
Develop/maintain up to date the Corrosion Management Strategy on an annual basis fed by the annual report inputs 
Specify the actions required and associated responsibilities to ensure the control of corrosion 
Responsible for ensuring compliance with corrosion control protocols defined and to report excursions via KPI 
Develop and maintain registers to identify threats, controls to mitigate, verification required and KPI limits 
Recommend and closely collaborate with chemical team to define chemical inhibition program to follow 
Recommend and collaborate with PPL Integrity focals to define and monitor operational pigging activities 

Qualifications & Experience: 
Education: Bachelors of Science in any Engineering field or equivalent 
MSc or equivalent preferred, however Bachelor level accepted (interview basis) in a relevant discipline, such as metallurgy, material science or corrosion 
Minimum of 15 years' experience in the Oil and Gas industry occupying a corrosion discipline role and with at least 5 years spent in a similar senior capacity, with technical authority duties demonstrable. 
Advanced understanding of metallurgy, material(s) selection, welding principles/consumables 
Advanced understanding regards chemical selection and dosage definition protocols 
Advanced understanding regards key elements contributing to corrosion prevention; chemical inhibition, cathodic protection, operational pigging and coating(s) 
Advanced understanding of corrosion causes/damage mechanisms, options to mitigate, means to apply and measure success. 
Strong working knowledge of Asset Integrity Mgt. principles applicable to Oil & Gas Production facilities. 
Strong appreciation for the integrity cycle and where corrosion controls feature and impact that cycle 
Knowledge and appreciation of standard and advanced inspection techniques & methods. 
Understanding of Fitness For Service & design principles for piping, vessels, pipelines and structures. 
Working knowledge of international codes and standards pertinent to inspection and integrity field. 
Fluent in written and spoken English, with a strong command of typical IS systems and reporting structures 
Ability to Lead/Coach/Mentor in a multicultural and highly technical specialized environment
