The Role:

Scope:

Responsible for all Yard activity, ensuring compliance to safety policies and procedures, ensuring both service and team targets are met in accordance with customer and company requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities:

* Liaise with Operations Manager, Customer, Warehouse and Quayside to ensure the daily plan is communicated effectively to all stakeholders
* Responsible for all aspects of the planning and management of lifting operations in compliance with LOLER and company risk control requirements
* To ensure the timely provision of plant and labour for Pipe Yard activity, minimising unnecessary cost through efficient co-ordination with other site activities efficient work scheduling
* Supervise and control any third party labour in the Pipe Yard and ensure that they comply with all company and legal requirements and customer stipulations
* Attend and participate in the daily planning meetings with the Operations Manager
* Proactively provide the operations team with suggestions to improve our service and cost controls
* Maintain training and competency records, ensuring that all members of the team are competently trained for their duties and to escalate when further training is required
* Ensure that all Pipe Yard plant and equipment is regularly checked and maintained to the required standards
* Responsible for ensuring all members of the team carry out their duties in a safe and efficient manner
* Conduct daily/weekly/monthly safety themed meetings within your sphere of influence
* Incorporate and promote safety changes and requirements
* Participate in toolbox talks to ensure all relevant personnel are fully aware of the job task hazards and controls prior to commencement of work
* Comply with all relevant company work instructions and procedures for each job function and identify improvements to the process where necessary
* Carry out thorough investigation to all team related opportunities for continual improvement using the Innovate system and implement the necessary changes to the procedure or work instruction to prevent re-occurrence
* Review Task Risk Assessments with the team to ensure continuing relevance, team understanding and compliance
* Conduct site safety audits and promote the strong safety culture by increased supervisory visibility to the workforce and addressing non-compliances
* Ensure Pipe Yard operations comply with current and future Company requirements and statutory legislation, PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, OPITO etc.
* Ensure OCTG handling, storage and preparation for offshore shipment is conducted in compliance with industry best practice, manufacturers guidance and accepted practice in accordance with applicable industry guidelines, API 5CT, OCTG Original Manufacturers' guidance
* Accurately record working hours/holidays/sickness/overtime to ensure that service levels are maintained and managed, through company procedures
* Ensure that all employees are performing to the required standard and where they are not; manage this effectively in accordance with company procedures
* Completion of employees' performance appraisals and assessments, and implementation of recommended training/development programmes in accordance with company procedures

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Safety Leadership - IOSH Managing Safely
* Be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and experience of Pipe Yard inventory management and OCTG husbandry including pipe inspection processes
* Knowledgeable in the identification of common OCTG steel grades, sizes, and premium connection types
* Experience in crane operating safety standards and legislation.
* Knowledge of the requirements relating to managing lifting equipment and planning complex lifts.
* People management and people development experience
* OPITO Stage 3 Banksman Slinger
