The Role:
The Lead Civil Structural & Architectural Engineer is principally a hands-on design based role with a degree of team leadership within discipline. The Lead Engineer can be responsible for delivering a package of work within a project within their discipline. Frequent liaison with other disciplines in the design team and the client would be expected.
Lead engineers are the main interface between senior management and hands-on design.
Development of designs to satisfy technical specifications
Prepare supporting design calculations to substantiate design
Check design calculations of designers and other engineers within the team
The Lead Civil Structural & Architectural Engineer will Actively contribute to design reviews, safety reviews (Risk Assessments and HAZOP's) from technical standpoint
Preparation of technical specifications in liaison with client and project team
Produce design documentation throughout the design process including scope of works, method statements, risk assessments, technical files and other technical documentation to comply with design standards, safety legislation/regulatory requirements and the needs of the client

Planning and allocation of workload to other members of design team within discipline in order to deliver package of work
Management of sub-contractors providing niche services to the design
Systematic, methodical, exacting, quality driven

Team leadership: approachable, organised, collaborative, communicative
A typical path is to develop to Senior Engineer then Design Manager upon satisfactory experience, qualifications and client acceptance.
The Company:
Our client is a nuclear specialist, covering both civilian and defence sectors, across the complete lifecycle from New Build, through Operations and Maintenance, to final decommissioning and waste disposal.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Preferably degree qualified in a relevant technical/engineering discipline though not essential. Newly professionally qualified or working towards Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer Status. A full UK drivers licence is essential for this position as travelling between offices may be required.
Demonstrable competence gained in a design delivery position
Technical design experience in C S & A will include conceptual design and design calculations
Use and Understanding of Structural Eurocodes
Seismic design experience would be an advantage
3D - model design (Autocad Inventor)
Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
The Lead Civil Structural & Architectural Engineer will have Experience in nuclear is preferred. It is a requirement of the position to demonstrate experience gained in a similar position ideally from a highly regulated industry. This could be from but is not limited to Defence, Pharmaceutical, Oil & Gas or Food
The Lead Civil Structural & Architectural Engineer will have experience in Finite Element analysis Staad pro, Anysys would be advantagous
Experience of leading teams within a project environment would be a distinct advantage
