The Role:
Key Areas of Responsibility

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) of metallic parts including;

  • Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results
  • Organize and report test results
  • Calibration, preparation and monitoring of NDT equipment before and during the NDT process (Fluorescent Particle Inspection (FPI) & Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) methods)
  • Physical preparation of metallic parts for NDT processes
  • Following non-conforming material control processes to document parts that do not meet specification
  • Operation routing and execution utilising a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) :
  1. Observe production process instructions and step by step execution
  2. Confirm completion of operations in a timely manner
  3. Raise any production exception in accordance with company's quality procedures
  • Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
  • Maintaining compliance with company policies; quality, HSE etc.
  • Ensuring quality through a pro-active approach to product and process non-conformity
  • Preparation of work centres and maintaining work centre cleanliness (5S)
  • Maintenance of factory equipment in accordance with company's Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) plan.
  • Interface daily with the client about work priorities and progress of projects
  • Actively participate in client programs, planning and strategy sessions
  • Work closely with client to identify and remove obstacles
  • Actively participate in client safety initiatives, incident investigations, etc.
  • The operator may also be required to perform other duties as required by the company.

The Company:
A recently established a new subsidiary company to support diversification of the group into the aerospace manufacturing market. Our Client is seeking candidates to support the operation of a brand new metal treatment facility, which will offer chemical, heat and surface treatment, paint and NDT services primarily to the aerospace manufacturing sector.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

Minimum Education and Experience

  • SPM, STPM, Diploma holder or university graduate, preferably in science or engineering related discipline (Chemistry, Materials Science, or Engineering)
  • Recognised vocational qualification in metallic NDT Level II Certification in Fluorescent Particle Inspection
  • An advantage for Magnetic Particle Inspection certification holder
  • Working knowledge / prior experience of processing chemicals and metal treatment equipment, in particular NDT operations in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in an automated production environment, including use of MES systems is advantageous
  • Ability to read and interpret complex instructions, drawings and technical documents
  • Must be able to understand and carry out instructions pertaining to HSE, including the management of hazardous waste.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Other Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience working in an aerospace manufacturing environment would be advantageous
  • Experience operating a forklift, including any relevant qualification/certification
  • A good level in the English language to interpret work instructions in an accurate manner
  • Strong personal motivation with the ability to work independently, and as part of a team
  • A track record of accuracy and attention to detail in the completion of tasks
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
