The Role:
Provide leadership, management, and strategic oversight to the Center, including responsibility for the Center's programmatic, personnel, administrative functions, and financial goals.


* Provide leadership to the Center for Offshore Safety (COS) in:
o Implementing and achieving the Center's mission, goals, and objectives.
o Establishing long-term strategies to assure programmatic sustainability and continuous improvement in industry performance.
o Coordinating and integrating the activities of the COS within the broader our client governance structure, including strong coordination with our client Upstream, other our client performance programs and in alignment with the overall our client vision for industry operational excellence.
o Developing and managing COS personnel and annual budget.

* Promote transparency of the Center's activities to enhance the reputation and credibility of industry while also assuring confidentiality of proprietary and private information.

* Participate in industry forums and meet with external stakeholders to share progress and seek out perspectives and consider feedback in continuous improvement efforts within COS.

* Serve as public face for industry offshore safety efforts; represent the industry and present at appropriate external meetings, forums, seminars, government events, and other association events as a means of promoting the work of the COS, coordinating across industry, and engaging with relevant stakeholders.

* Foster and maintain credible and effective relationships with relevant government and non-governmental stakeholders to ensure that COS activities are complementary to, and not in conflict with or duplicative of, government programs.

* Education: BS in Engineering or Geology or similar challenging technical discipline.

* Experience: 15+ years in oil and gas industry with technical experience in offshore-related engineering, operations, and HSSE. Senior management experience is also required. Experience with public and government relations is preferred.

Qualifications: Must present a desire to sustain and continuously improve a world class Safety and Environmental management systems program focused on supporting and leading the industry to excellence and continuous improvement in offshore oil and gas safety and environmental performance. Facilitate sustaining an organization that effectively achieves the industry's mission and strategy. Capable of effectively working and engaging with senior executives in the industry and with managing staff and a technical program.
Ability to develop and execute senior level business plans, management systems and coordinate regulatory compliance. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including and the ability to interact effectively and professionally with the media. The ability, reputation, and respect to communicate with and gain support from our client and our client member company executives and other "C" suite industry leaders. Job scope includes interfacing with multiple industry organizations, and it is preferred that the Director have prior experience in working with industry organizations such as the our client , IADC, OOC, NOIA, and SPE. The Director must also exercise strong judgment and discretion in engaging with regulatory agencies, policy makers, elected officials, and public influential.
