The Role:
JOB PURPOSE
Manage the efforts of Intellectual Property (IP) distributions, primarily API's Standards and Statistics products, to ensure the efficient operation of API's licensing, product development, and pricing; including budget and royalty allocations, customer relations, fulfillment, product marketing, sales, and inventory management. Grow net revenue by creating new products and constructing corresponding competitive pricing structures, developing comprehensive annual marketing plan, implementing efficient business models to increase overall sales, and coordinating the financial management of the publications and statistics programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Work with Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) and external business principals to implement translation rights and electronic/print distribution rights while protecting API's Intellectual Property .
* Work with API's Office of General Counsel to formulate copyright policies and processes, and implement copyright protections for API intellectual property.
* Assist in the relationship management of third-party distributors, service providers, and vendors.
* Work with department diirector to determine regional priorities, and develop annual marketing efforts and goals accordingly.
* Coordinate publications and data sales operations with other Global Industry Services department managers, and with the API Statistics department.
* Assist in the creation of competitive and comprehensive pricing structures for various products including: technical standards, subscription portals, and API Data.
* Analyze and monitor past sales, royalties, and reporting statistics to determine future business growth potential.
* Analyze and control expenditures for IP department to ensure compliance with annual budgetary requirements.
* Work with department director to provide necessary data for annual budget reviews.
* Improve financial performance by decreasing costs and increasing efficiency of operations, sales, and distribution media of IP worldwide.
* Regularly prepare sales reports for both Publications and Statistics programs for department director, showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed expansion.
* Seek and target potential new customers and new marketing/sales opportunities, initiate action plan and propose related pricing to secure new business for IP programs..
* Oversee department personnel in the Intellectual Property Department, providing insight and guidance geared towards productivity and personnel development.
* Evaluate and recommend improvements to publishing and statistics business practices.
* Assist in the development of business plans for new and revised self-supporting programs.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY AND KEY RELATIONSHIPS
* Reports directly to the Global Industry Services (GIS) Director.
* Work closely with fellow GIS Managers to create distribution, marketing, and pricing plans and to establish revenue and expense forecasts.
* Ensure effective staff communications through weekly staff meetings, and conduct periodic assessments of performance as part of the API's performance management system.
* Manage professional and administrative support personnel
* Work and coordinate efforts with appropriate staff from other departments (Legal, Standards, FOF, etc.)


SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
* Bachelors degree in marketing, business or a related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
* A minimum of 10 years experience managing revenue generating programs, preferably in publishing area.
* Strong business and financial management, marketing, customer service, sales/analysis and reporting skills
* Excellent verbal communication, writing and analytical skills
* Requires leadership skills and the ability to manage people, programs and work.
* Proficient with Microsoft applications especially Word, Excel, Access and SharePoint, familiarity with databases and order fulfillment/customer service/inventory management, meetings registrations systems, financial systems, and other management systems and tools.
