The Role:
Accounting Assistant
Accountability for the full cycle of the accounts receivable process, and project accounting ensuring timely invoicing to the clients and collection of receivables. Monthly payroll journal posting and making payments using the online banking system. Duties are comprised of complex transactions postings and analysis and reconciliations involving inter-company and multi-currency exchange issues.
Expectations of the Position
The ideal candidate will have prior accounts receivable and project accounting experience. The candidate will be a part qualified accountant or studying towards a Chartered /Professional accounting qualification and keen develop themselves.
General Responsibilities
* Compile and issue small but complex monthly tax invoices to customers
* Monitor payments and maintain accounts receivable ageing schedules
* Communicate with clients and resolve issues to ensure timely collections
* Process monthly payroll, arrange payments to vendors
* Review and reconcile receivable, reimbursable revenue to reimbursable expense and accrued chargeable expense accounts
* Issue weekly accounts receivable reports to management
* Bank account reconciliations in multiple currencies
* Set up and maintain new engagements on the Project accounting system
* Provide input and assistance in reviewing and assessing compliance with Kazakh laws, including tax and invoicing requirements for JMJ as a supplier and for own vendors/suppliers in Kazakhstan
* Liaise with client Finance Managers regarding outstanding payments if applicable
* Be first point of contact for all Finance related queries in the office
* Assist with other ad hoc projects as needed
Required Experience and Skills
* Degree in Accounting or equivalent and studying towards Chartered/ Professional Accounting qualification.
* Fluent Russian and English verbal and written communication skills are essential to assist in translation of invoices/act of acceptances and general documents
* Previous experience of accounts receivables and project accounting (revenue recognition based on stage/percentage complete) is necessary, ideally gained from working in construction, consultancy, advertising, marketing or business management
* Solid understanding of balance sheet account reconciliations; including but not limited to cash, accruals, debtors and deferred revenue
* Knowledge of Kazakh legislation, including laws relating to tax, invoicing and client/vendor contracting matters and understanding of labor laws
* Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills
* Advanced Microsoft excel knowledge and experience
* Ability to multitask, manage time and meet deadlines
* Completion of legal or compliance courses or training would be advantageous but is not essential
* Previous multicurrency experience
