The Role:
The Drill Manager allocates, monitors, and controls regional drilling activities in accordance with budgetary objectives, procedures, and company core values.

Accountabilities
Includes but not limited to;
* Standardizes drilling practice, equipment, and record keeping at the Hermosa and surrounding operations.
* Identifies and maintains operational cost reductions and/or productivity improvements to safely and effectively meet drilling targets.
* Provides assistance to exploration/geological personnel to safely and effectively develop and execute drill programs (i.e. contracting drilling personnel, safety and training, social, environmental, access and construction).
* Contract owner for all drilling and related contracts, (drilling, down hole services and drilling consumables)
* Liaises with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate contracts and tenders.
* Promotes and participates in the application of new technologies (tools, equipment, and fluids).
* Drives the process for conducting preliminary start-up safety inspections of all drilling and support equipment, providing accurate and regular reports to ensure rigs and equipment arrive as scheduled and are drilling standards-compliant at exploration sites.
* Actively engages with preferred drilling contract companies to identify and implement long-term solutions and methods, such as industry recognized licensing and accreditation to reduce drilling-related incidents.
* Implements an effective daily reporting system to capture individual drill rig data; reports will outline each rig's drill tool sizes, production metering (footage), hours, distribution, and notes (i.e. incidents, safety concerns, problems in the hole,
* Provides expert drilling advice to regional exploration project personnel as required.
* Conducts regular technical discussions with regional exploration and project managers to effectively identify and quickly resolve problems.
* Regularly visits active drill projects and coordinates drilling schedules
* Collaborates with project and contract stakeholders to provide project logistical support (i.e. mud and fluid additives supply, establish deviation survey systems support, and project consumables supplies, etc.)
* etc.).
* Practices courageous safety leadership at all times.
* Upholds a professional and safe environment, promoting technical excellence.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
* Relevant post-secondary school certificate, trade or diploma is considered advantageous.
* Extensive relevant experience within drilling field
* Relationship building skills: demonstrated empathy, emotional intelligence and cross-cultural effectiveness with the ability to achieve consensus and build alignment cooperatively
* Effective communication with other departments and leadership
* Effective public speaking and professional writing skills
* Prior experience in a supervisory or managerial role
* Directional drilling experience will be an advantage
* Must have both surface and underground drilling experience
