The Role:
In Sustainability, our client provides leadership, expertise and direction to generate value (social, environmental and economic) now and into the future. This role, based in Illawarra, leads the HS Operations team to effectively manage the execution of activities that the HS function is accountable for, across the operation and projects. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Manage the safe execution of HS accountable work for the operations, including risk assessments and follow-up verifications
* Provide input, via the Manager HSE Operations into the development of the HSE strategy
* Develop sound working relationships based on mutual trust, with the operations team, to ensure HS work is executed in alignment with the requirements
* Ensure HS Operations work conforms to the appropriate HSE standard, systems, processes, and critical controls for HS material risks
* Effectively manage the HS component of the Injury Management and Return to Work processes
* Verify that the periodic reporting of HS data is accurate within the set time-frame
* Provide the operations team members coaching in HS standards and procedures
* Lead and mentor the HS team

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

* Bachelors Degree (Science / Engineering or similar)
* Extensive H&S experience (specifically in coal mining preferred)
* Requires knowledge of key concepts, theories and practices related to the effective management of HS related risks
* Sound report writing skills
* Ability to influence and gain the trust of an Operations leadership team
* Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing business needs and circumstances
