The Role:
Our client is seeking a Hygiene Officer to start a permanent position with a leading mining company. Reporting to the Lead HSE, the purpose of this role is to provide specialist support and advice to the operation and functional teams on hygiene management aspects which support adherence to the Global Hygiene Standard, legal compliance and material-risk mitigation. Also supporting the delivery of the functional business plan, hygiene authorisations and strategic improvement projects.

Key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Implement systems and processes that enable line leaders to meet their regulatory commitments
  • Provide operational support and technical advice/coaching to actively support effective management of site hygiene matters
  • Engage with the global discipline team for complex issues and/or significant events to support the management of hygiene-related risks
  • Facilitate the implementation of the Global Health Standard (Occupational Exposures) and HSEC Reporting Standard at the operation
  • Provide input into the short and long-term planning at the operation, ensuring that key hygiene risks are considered appropriately to support on-going compliance and leading best practice
  • Develop and maintain operations specific hygiene management system documentation in line with regulatory requirements, Global Health Standard and the operational risk profile
  • Facilitate occupational exposure assessments in line with "recognised" practice and with consideration of legal and Global Health Standard requirements
  • Design and execute hygiene monitoring programs ensuring that they are fit for purpose, aligned with regulatory requirements and the operational risk profile
  • Maintain process for the collection and verification of hygiene data relevant to the operation and undertake data analysis
  • Identify and coordinate/execute site specific improvement initiatives
  • Support the delivery of the business-level strategic improvement initiatives relevant to the operation, in collaboration with the Global Discipline Team and the operation

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or post graduate qualification in Occupational Hygiene or related field (E.g. Toxicology)
  • Certified Ventilation Officer and Noise Officer (Preferred but not essential)
  • Site based hygiene experience
  • Sound understanding of hygiene management processes and technologies and relevant industry standards (eg. AIOH and ICMM)
  • Sound communication, interpersonal, negotiation, influencing and facilitation skills
  • Ability to manage time, set priorities, plan, adapt and organise work deliverables
