The Role:
Our client is urgently seeking to fill a position for a Supply Specialist on a 6 month contract. The position can be offered either on a full time or part time basis, 3-4 days a week.

You will be responsible for providing specialist advice and executing Category Management activities in line with specified guidelines and business requirements to confirm surety of supply and minimum Supply risk for the business.

Key Duties:
* Applies Category Management & Purchasing processes in alignment to design intent, local operating procedures, audit & Group Level obligations.
* Develops effective relationships with internal business leaders to understand business requirements, to forecast demand, and verify established contracts are effective.
* Develops collaborative relationships with suppliers to ensure optimum delivery quality and sustained performance in line with business objectives.
* Supports Category Management Leadership teams to provide insight into the sub-function activities.
* Executes against the control framework for master data management; maintain quality and accuracy of information.
* Develops and executes sourcing activities contributing to the Asset/Project Supply Sourcing Plan.
* Collects requirements and analyses key data inputs from multiple sources (internal and external) to build robust category and sourcing strategies.
* Develops category strategies that minimise supply risk to the business, optimise cost and contribute to process automation.
* Executes category strategies and contract coverage to support Maintenance Strategies, 2 year budget and 5 year execution plans.
* Leads negotiations with Suppliers.
* Reviews contract award recommendations.
* Reviews contracts for approval.
* Monitors the portfolio of suppliers supporting the business ensuring optimal usage & performance against business expectations.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Strong experience in developing commercial strategies and leading high value strategic negotiations.
* Strong understanding of the bulk materials and inter-modal logistics markets.
* Experience in a commercial/ supply environment, preferably in Mining & Metals.
* SAP experience or similar
