The Role:
Material Control Specialist This position will be a lead specialist for the Safeguards group. The Senior Specialist will be proficient in all specialties listed below prior to promotion to this level.

Responsible for maintaining, coordinating, and managing procedures to implement measurement and measurement control aspects of the Fundamental Nuclear Material Control Plan (FNMCP).

The experience and responsibilities of this position are requirements of the FNMCP. Any changes must be evaluated by the Safeguards Manager and Human Resources prior to changing.

-Daily oversight and approval of all MC&A general ledger entries. 
-Preparation of NRC forms for SM and SNM shipments & receipts. 
-Preparation of book inventory calculations (bi-monthly and annual). 
-Reconciliation of MC&A SAP against NMMSS. 
-Preparation of NRC forms for physical inventories (bi-monthly and annual). 
-Verification and validation activities related to the nuclear material accounting software. 
-Resolution of general ledger and accounting system anomalies. 
-Maintenance of FNMC plan chapters 1, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11. 
-Implementation of the Material Accounting Program. 
-Calculation of shipper-receiver difference (SRD) statistics. 
-Calculation of physical inventory statistics (bi-monthly and annual). 
-Resolution of measurement system anomalies and out of control conditions. 
-Verification and validation activities related to statistical software package. 
-Daily oversight of receipts, shipments, and material handling activities. 
-Implementation of the physical inventory program, including program planning, coordination of inventory activities, and the compilation of all data collected. 
-Performing over-check of the physical inventory data collected by the Nuclear Material Custodians. 
-Implementation of the item control program including UBC monthly item monitoring activities. 
-Performance of periodic facility walk-downs required for the unauthorized enrichment prevention program. 
-Implementation of the tamper-indicating device (TID) program including periodic monitoring activities. 
-Resolution of issues involving material locations, TIDs, and movements. 
-Coordinate and take a leadership role with the broader Safeguards Team for projects and act as a knowledgeable resource for the team. Act on behalf of the Safeguards Manager when appropriate. 
-Ability to work independently. 
-Experience in nuclear material control and safeguards. 
-Demonstrated ability to think strategically, set direction and apply results-oriented approach. 
-Good analytical skills and ability to apply technical expertise to identify and solve problems. 
-Ability to navigate both the formal and informal networks at company to accomplish assigned tasks. 
-Develop and utilize soft skills (both in writing and verbally) to effectively communicate and collaborate both internally and the broader company as well as externally with key stakeholders. 
-Ability to effectively work and cooperate with teams and as part of teams to accomplish tasks. 
-Demonstrate mature emotional intelligence including empathy, positive work ethic, can-do/positive attitude, and conflict resolution.

-The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree and five to seven years of related work experience. A Bachelor's degree in a business, engineering, science, technical or other related field are preferred. All candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to work independently, strong planning, analytical and scheduling skills, a demonstrated ability to think strategically, as well as to navigate both the formal and informal networks at company to accomplish assigned tasks, and the ability to effectively work and cooperate with a team and as part of a team to accomplish tasks.
