The Role:
To provide engineering leadership and inspiration to support, develop and deliver our client's goal of becoming, and remaining, a recognised centre of excellence in offshore renewable energy.
As a key member of the Test & Validation Engineering team, you will ensure that development and delivery of commercial and research projects, programmes and tests are underpinned by robust, expert and sustainable engineering processes, procedures and capability.

Accountable for developing and managing the electrical infrastructure of the test facilities and assets, as well as the integration of client devices for testing, and the subsequent updating of record documentation and drawings.
Accountable for technical leadership/support of the electrical (HV, MV, and LV) requirements for commercial testing, and asset enhancement/renewal projects, in line with company goals, objectives and associated internal and external capability and expertise.

Responsibilities of the role shall include:
* Support and promote Health & Safety, Environment & Quality as core business principles within an OHSAS 18001, ISO14001, ISO9001, ISO17025 environment.
* Maintain currency of knowledge of latest electrical systems and components, as well as other relevant technologies, standards, engineering good practice and the application of these in a research and commercial environment.
* Manage and develop the electrical installation and design requirements within the facilities to ensure testing processes meet customer requirements and accreditation standards.
* Responsible for ensuring the setup of customer test pieces and supporting equipment/systems within the facilities are to the required standards
* Provide electrical specification, design, installation, testing, and commissioning skills as necessary to the commercial operations and research activities including, but not limited to, testing, design, development, tender preparation/evaluation, budget preparation/review, contractor management and customer interface.
* Support the application of the test process to a given project plan to meet customer expectations.
* Responsible for the creation of technical test reports to client's satisfaction, in particular collation and presentation of electronic data in respect of electrical performance and operation.
* Improve processes and systems, or proactively create them where they are needed and do not exist to ensure all the engineering activities (research and commercial) operate in line with, or above, industry good practice.
* Ensure all projects, programmes and tests are developed and delivered in line with agreed project plans and processes and procedures
* Ensure design and project records relating to electrical test, activities and project work are maintained in accordance with processes and procedures.
* Develop innovative commercial and research projects in line with goals and objectives.
* Develop and disseminate engineering knowledge to key stakeholders.
* Represent at industry forums, demonstrating capability, competency and experience to stakeholders.
* Perform primary and secondary electrical design of a range of equipment such as substations, transformers, switchgear and protection.
* Work with other business functions independently and as part of a project team to support the development of key Knowledge Areas.
* Fulfil role of representative for engineering activities within a project team to develop and deliver projects, programmes, testing and test facility development, and their associated deliverables
* Where appropriate, populate and maintain design and project records relating to engineering activities and project work in accordance with processes and procedures.
* Where appropriate, review team member deliverables or other work within areas of competency and in accordance with processes and procedures.
* Take part in HAZOP and HAZID reviews as appropriate

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Educated to at least degree level in a relevant discipline.
* Chartered Engineer or equivalent would be beneficial
* Experience of HV distribution systems and associated equipment including converters and drives
* Experience of cabling for HV/LV projects
* Sound knowledge of electrical generating plant and apparatus
* Knowledge of ePlan, CAD, AMTECH, and 17/18th Edition wiring regulations would be beneficial.
* Knowledge of, and the application of, good practice engineering design procedures and tools.
* Good understanding of H&S legislation applicable to offshore operations.
* Experience of working in OHSAS
