The Role:
To provide critical electrical engineering maintenance leadership of the electrical maintenance team as well as managing specialist contractors and client installation personnel across all site facilities to ensure all operational assets are reliable and downtime is minimised.

This is an important position and an integral member of the Operations team, to ensure troubleshooting, test rig operation and reliability, defect rectification and HV/MV electrical maintenance work orders are carried out and recorded on the Asset Management System and the required standards, and in-house procedures are followed, including good working practises.

Accountable to the Asset Maintenance and Facilities Manager and leading the electrical technician maintenance team by delivering a high standard of electrical leadership and supporting other engineering departments associated with the facilities.
Ensure compliance with QHSE within all areas of the role and its responsibilities.

* Support and promote Health & Safety, Environment & Quality as core business principles within an OHSAS 18001, ISO14001, ISO9001, ISO17025 environment.
* Responsible to ensure that site HV/MV equipment and facilities are reliable and therefore maintained to an impeccable standard.
* To work with the existing Control Person as detailed in BP2175. HV Intervention System and become a fully qualified Authorised Person following training from our Senior Authorised Person. (SAP)
* Work with Design department staff to implement infrastructure changes and integration of client equipment into facilities
* Responsible for line managing, overseeing and leadership of the electrical maintenance technicians in conducting reliability planned and reactive maintenance activities and fault-finding and associated record keeping of site assets and facilities and HV/MV plant as necessary.
* Responsible for the mentoring and development of the electrical maintenance team, including identification of training needs that supports business objectives
* To lead in the development and operate a formal maintenance regime for all electrical plant/equipment and tools, including HV systems.
* Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with permits and authorisation systems and all operational risks are minimised.
* Ensure all externally employed technical staff are fully briefed in all areas of operational requirements and site standards.
* Provide competent site cover for other members of staff as directed.
* Propose and support improvements, future developments and efficiencies associated with all facilities and assets.
* Complete ad-hoc duties relevant to the role under direction of line manager or their appointed deputy including the provision of cover across the site.
* Support the development and implementation of in-house procedures and documentation as necessary;
* Support the company business development and project management teams as required on commercial and program development issues;
* Assist the QA manager in obtaining and retaining quality standards as applicable

Skills & Knowledge
* Considerable experience of reliability maintenance of electrical HV, MV, LV instrumentation and control system equipment and have the competence to diagnose/recommend, discuss and implement repair/renewal options with line management and site electrical teams
* Experience of commissioning electrical HV systems would be beneficial;
* Understanding of Permanent magnetic drives would be beneficial but not essential;
* Sound knowledge of electrical generating plant and apparatus.
* To have a good understanding of Health and safety practices and requirements including producing and reviewing detailed risk assessments and method statements;
* Strong mind-set for continuous improvement;

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Educated to a minimum of HNC with proven extended experience preferably in a similar operating environment or MV/LV variable frequency drives (VFD's) would be beneficial..
* Relevant training in lifting/slinging including PUWER/LOLER regulations (desirable)
* Installation fault-finding/rectification and maintenance of HV,MV & LV plant and equipment
* Electrical Inspection and Testing Qualification (desirable).
* Fully conversant with the current wiring regulations 18th Edition Qualification is desirable
* Good understanding of H&S legislation applicable to plant operations.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
* Experience of working in OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 17025 environments. (desirable)
