The Role:
Main Purpose

* To successfully project manage delivery (budget, timeline, risks & quality) of designated capital, asset renewal, commercial and R&D projects across the facilities to meet the business needs, customers and sponsors expectations.


* To successfully deliver designated projects, safely and to schedule, quality and cost in accordance with the business needs and to the highest possible standards to achieve customer and client satisfaction;
* Identifying opportunities for continuous improvements on project delivery, availability and efficiencies for the facilities / assets and the testing & validation business in general;
* To ensure all project activities are undertaken and completed in compliance with internal and regulatory standards, processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage the planning and delivery of designated projects to budget, timescale and specifications agreed with clients, end-users and project sponsors;
* Ensure successful handover to clients, end users or customers of completed projects;
* Support in ensuring the test facilities and assets availability and capacity are maximised;
* Develop detailed knowledge of testing capabilities in conjunction with clients, sales and marketing and other test facilities world-wide;
* Manage projects and general work activities in accordance with safety processes and QA procedures / working practises and competencies to ensure the safety of staff, contractors and customers whilst working on the project or in the facility so as to comply with legislative and regulatory (CDM) requirements;
* Manage project teams to achieve in developing robust project plans and maintain these plans to completion;
* Follow project tracking process and lead project reviews to ensure compliance is being achieved;
* Assist in the development of facility / asset enhancements and renewal plans;
* Liaise and support in the preparation of proposals / quotations
* Represent the company on asset, commercial and R&D opportunities;
* Ensure test records / data is maintained in accordance with ISO 9000 and internal
* Lead in lessons learnt and programme development through engineering, supply
chain and contractor reviews;
* Undertake any other duties of which the responsibility, experience and skills required
fall within the post holder's expected capability and are commensurate with the post
holder's position in the company.

Authority & Decisions

* Work mainly unsupervised, use initiative and judgement for problem solving but seek
authority on business critical issues/decisions;
* Procurement of products and/or services within delegated financial authority;
* Achieve gross margin for the designated projects by monitoring and managing the
fixed and variable costs against budget;
* Deputise for the Senior Project Manager as and when required in their absence.

Key Capabilities

* Recognised role model and proven qualities of leadership management and
development / training of team members and external personnel;
* Honours Degree Qualification in a suitable Engineering Discipline e.g. Materials,
Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering;
* Project management in the wind industry would be very beneficial, but not essential.
* Chartered status or equivalent (not essential, but willing to or working to obtain
professional status would be advantageous);
* Computer literate (MS Office based);
* Valid experience of procurement processes (in accordance with company procedures
and European Directives);
* Project Management skills, working within timescales and budgets;
* Excellent verbal and written communications;
* Confidence in ability to remain professional, be supportive and/or assertive in dealing
with project and client, end-users and sponsor changing expectations and goals.

Key Contacts & Relationships

* Support and assist the Proposal Manager in preparation of proposals / quotations for
commercial and R&D opportunities;
* Support and assist Sales, Marketing in developing and securing the sales pipeline
opportunities of existing and future customers;
* Assist in developing and guide less experienced project team members as a mentor
and role model;
* Support the Head of Delivery and Senior Project Manager to develop asset renewal
and asset improvement plans;
* Support in establishing and developing project management, financial, commercial
resource planning, and safety working processes and to encourage adoption by
necessary end-users and sponsors;
