The Role:
This role will be pivotal to maintaining consistently high-quality financial modelling for the success of delivering the financial and economic analysis of TIGER (Tidal Stream Industry Energiser Project .
Focus will be on proactively working with TIGER project partners to analyse cost and performance data carry out detailed techno-economic modelling to underpin robust modelling structures and assumptions and integrate data in ORE Catapults data base used to inform its 2018 Wave & Tidal cost reduction reports.

To further develop and inter-link existing (and identify and develop new) detailed techno-economic models and assumptions, allowing the AI team to produce insights built on robust modelling.
Whilst the post will be based in our Cornwall office, it is essential that the successful candidate is able to travel to TIGER project partners based in UK and France.

* Scope out requirements for detailed techno-economic modelling ad agree action plan to identify and implement appropriate detailed assumptions and model structures
* Identify and action appropriate balance between consistent set of linked models and need for flexibility and specific functionality in bespoke models
* Regularly update financial and related databases for publicity available data and capture relevant data generated in the TIGER project (maintaining client confidentiality where applicable).
* Understand the financial analysis support needed by the Analysis & Insights team and wider organisation.
* Identify relevant data sources (datasets and organisations/contacts)
* Development of new detailed models using TIGER data
* Identify opportunities for internal and external collaboration

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have the ability to demonstrate the following:
* A degree or equivalent in a technical, mathematical or scientific discipline
* A successful track record doing a similar role in a technical operating environment; experience of working in a management or strategic consultancy environment; or related academic experience
* Innovation and creative thinking
* Demonstrate problem solving ability and able to deal with conflicting requirements
* Strong financial and economic modelling skills
* High proficiency in MS Excel and other analytical tools, likely to be developed through the development of in-house models or tools
* Knowledge of and experience working with in the Renewables or Energy environment with appropriate financial background
* Confidence in communicating effectively in both technical and commercialisation/business language
* Needs to be able to make rational and commercially based decision
