The Role:
To ensure the smooth running of all aspects of the test process, from the arrival of a test piece/blade to final reporting with particular emphasis on the report, equipment, hardware and software availability.

Accountabilities

Deputise for the Senior Engineer Blade Test as and when required;
* Ability to work mainly unsupervised, seeking authority on critical technical issues;
* Successful delivery of the test process and customer satisfaction in the test rig utilisation;
* Operation of the test facility to a pre-defined programme;
* Support the facility development to meet future IEC and industrial standards;
* Improvement in operability and utilisation of the facility and service offering;
* Undertake any other duties of which the responsibility, experience and skills required fall within the post holder's expected capability and are commensurate with the post holders position in the company.
* Assist the QA manager in obtaining and retaining quality standards as applicable;
* Represent the company on commercial and program issues;

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for ensuring the setup of test piece/blade and supporting equipment/systems within the facility and on site, are to the required standards;
* Responsible for the application of the test process to a given test and project plan to meet customer expectations;
* Support technical discussions with clients regarding test methods and specifications;
* Manage and review the calibration/modifications to control and instrumentation systems, specialist processes and networks to ensure correct test preparations;
* Responsible for the creation of technical test reports to client's satisfaction, in particular collation, analysis and presentation of electronic data;
* Propose and support improvements, future development and efficiencies within the test facility and test processes;
* Support the maintenance Team to ensure the test equipment QHSE requirements and standards prior and during the test processes;
* Oversee, direct and guide staff including engineers and technicians in the support and delivery of the test process to meet project and business requirements;
* Develop testing techniques in conjunction with clients, R&D projects and other test facilities worldwide;
* Support the development and implementation of in house procedures and documentation as necessary;

Authority & Decisions

* Ability to work mainly unsupervised, seeking authority on critical technical issues;

* Operation of the test facility to a pre-defined programme, and in accordance with company QHSE policies;
* Support the facility development to meet future IEC and industrial standards;
* Improvement in operability and utilisation of the facility and service offering;

Key Capabilities

* Relevant degree or equivalent in a suitable engineering discipline;
* Extensive experience principally in the areas of either electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic/structural loadings, instrumentation/data collection and control systems;
* Highly computer literate - ability to use Microsoft packages , in particular excel, with a working knowledge of SCADA, Diadem and LABView;
* Experience to organise and deliver diagnostic work on the test equipment and to take remedial action;
* Knowledge of PUWER & LOLER regulations
* Experience and knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 competence of testing and calibration laboratories;
* Ability to deal with customer expectations and aspirations on test delivery:
* Knowledge/familiarity with instrumentation and calibration of strain gauges, displacement and load transducer's beneficial;
* Good oral and written communication skills - must be capable of writing detailed technical reports;
* Good data analysis skills;
* Good team player;
* Good communication and time management skills;
* Leadership and team development skills (Supporting Technicians);
* Use initiative and judgement to analyse and make decisions to solve technical and/or engineering problems as they arise;
* Good presentation skills;
* Capable of working within tight timescales and budgets;
* Motivated, encouraging and enthusiastic;
* Ability to work at height and within confined spaces
