Our client is a well-established, successful boutique consultancy, with a reputation for achieving technical excellence in the delivery of services to Australia's water, coastal and environmental sectors.

The Role:
Due to the growth of their business and an expanded portfolio of projects, an exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Senior Flooding Engineer in their Brisbane office to work closely with their water specialists.

This role covers a broad range of skills relating to Flooding Engineering, and as such your primary focus is to provide hydrologic and hydraulic technical expertise and oversight on a range of projects, as well as more general activities within the team such as project management, tendering and business development.


With a minimum of 5 years commercial experience in the water industry, you will play a key role in:

  • Hydraulic, hydrological and urban water modelling
  • Business Development
  • Client, stakeholder and municipal engagement to create and nurture long lasting relationships
  • Preparing, managing and planning project proposals and tenders
  • Project Management for multiple projects of varying complexity and size
  • Assisting with effective leadership and mentoring of the flooding business


The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil or Environmental) or a Science degree with a mathematical grounding
  • Typically between 5 to 10 years' relevant industry experience
  • Local industry experience in Brisbane and/or Queensland
  • Previous experience in a consulting environment &/or Water Authority would be advantageous
  • CPEng and RPEQ accreditations or actively working towards
  • High level of proficiency using industry-standard modelling packages, including;
    • 1/2D hydraulic modelling utilising MIKE 11/21, TUFLOW & HECRAS
    • Hydrologic analysis utilising RAFTS, XP-RAFTS, URBS, RORB & WBNM
    • Urban water modelling utilising MUSIC & InfoWorks
    • Experience using GIS packages, including MapInfo & QGis
    • Experience with design software packages, such as 12D & CAD software would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of technical standards, legislation, codes of practice and Australian standards
  • Experience preparing, managing and planning project proposals and tenders
  • Project Management capability across projects of varying complexity and size
  • Previous experience with client relationship management
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills with a passion for collaboration
