Our client, a leader in the production of quality steel and aluminum metal parts, assemblies and fluid management systems focused primarily on the automotive sector, is recruiting for a Maintenance Manager based in Vaughan, Ontario.

This role provides leadership and direction to the Maintenance department.

Qualifications:

* College courses in Maintenance related discipline; Millwright or Electrical certificate of qualification is preferred

* Minimum 8 - 10 years experience in Maintenance position in industry;

* Minimum 3 years at manager / Supervisory level

* Must have experience in welding/assembly production

* Proficient in Microsoft office

* High level of time management and organizational skills

* Ability to lead a team

* Strong technical and problem solving skills

* Familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations

Critical Success Factors:

* Ability to interact with the Management Team in a professional manner to continually enhance the company's performance

* Desire to learn the business, understand the production process by walking the floor, and participating in production meetings

* A complete hands on approach is required to assist the plant in developing into a successful and profitable division

* Ability to work independently without supervision and with minimum direction

* Ability to work in a team environment and be both a team player and team leader

* Ability to manage and direct subordinates on the day-to-day tasks in a fast paced environment

* Ability to mentor and guide subordinates to achieve overall departmental goals and objectives

* Respecting and understanding of the Customer/Supplier relationship

* Adopt a common sense approach to identifying and addressing problems

* Ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and at no time is the employee or their co-workers placed in an unsafe condition

Responsibilities:

* Oversee maintenance related functions

* PM program/ schedule that ensures machine robustness along with the coordination of production schedule needs

* Ensure all equipment and tools are maintained properly to avoid interruption of production and to minimize unnecessary downtime

* Analyze machine downtime to identify and correct mechanical problems

* Ensure availability of replacement parts for key manufacturing equipment to minimize unnecessary machine downtime

* Maintain maintenance related records

* To co-ordinate with outside contractors on equipment repairs and to source the most effective repairs and upgrades cost

* Provide input and ensure completion of CI projects

* Ensure proper planning and control for all areas of responsibility in Maintenance department (e.g. labour, overtime, equipment, travel, etc)

* Maintains clear written records

* Creates and ensures a safe and secure work environment.

* Achieve goals and objectives that are set out each year by the General Manager

* Contribute to ongoing improvements to throughput, inventory and operational expense.

* Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human resources policies, and Employee Handbook
