The Role:
Shift Technician - Derbyshire UK - Competitive Package plus a monthly supplement of £500. The shift pattern will be 7 day working 12 hour shifts on a continental pattern 4 on & 4 off.

Our client serves customers within the automotive aftermarket with maintenance, service, and performance-enhancing products and original equipment manufacturers of cars, trucks, heavy-duty vehicles, commercial vehicles, agricultural, aerospace and other industrial applications with premium products.

Role Purpose

To provide technical expertise for key specialist equipment to ensure performance remains at the required OEE / reliability and to ensure key statutory requirements are met by the site. Develop best practice in specialist field. An extensive working knowledge of core specialist plant within the Value Stream manufacturing areas, is an essential element of this role

Key Responsibilities

* Patrol key site locations, i.e. dust plants to check condition/standard of the equipment and its maintenance
* Complete checks of the waters and air plants
* Initiate corrective actions for abnormalities to minimize lost time
* Provide technical support for loss of service, i.e. power cut, gas cut
* Advise and support maintenance teams on vision, robots, PLC's, general fault finding and to ensure a structural problem/fault finding process is used (written)
* Co-ordinate legislative requirements - pressure vessel inspection, hoists and lifting equipment and dust plant monitoring
* Daily inspection of continuous monitoring on DP's and immediate response to continuous monitoring of alarms
* Provide technical expertise & support for the development, introduction maintenance and repair of specialist equipment to achieve optimum running time on defined kit
* To fault find, maintain and repair equipment; equipment and systems to include Electrical, Mechanical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic and PLC using all engineering disciplines to ensure minimum lost production time
* Ability to advise and repair /delegate equipment to ensure work is carried out in accordance with statutory requirements
* Monitor & Review the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, in terms of quality , uptime and capability to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner and identify opportunities for improvement
* The ability to provide rapid response to breakdown where local value stream manufacturing teams require assistance
* Prepare reports, analyse data and make recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance related problems
* Optimize set plant cycle times to maximize output without a detrimental effect on plant integrity
* Communicate regularly with all maintenance personnel both individually and as a group to ensure good 2-way communication concerning maintenance issues
* Coordinate activities of sub-contract personnel on site as and when required
* Provide technical engineering support service for all Value Streams.
* Maintain high level of 5S within all work areas ensuring daily audits where appropriate are completed

Qualifications - Functional Experience

* Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent
* Special knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrics, electronics, mechanical, PLC
* Ability to provide rapid response to breakdowns when local teams need assistance
* Relevant experience in a similar industrial environment role

* Relevant experience in a similar industrial environment role

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
* Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Degree
* Knowledge of factory air supply, electrical services, water, fire, emergency procedures, dust plants and EHS procedures
