The Role:
An appointee taking on this role will join a small team responsible for delivering all control and software elements on a wide range of bespoke robotic solutions for hostile environments. The appointee will be responsible for small packages of work under the supervision of the lead control and software engineer for each project. Based on performance the appointee can rapidly progress to have responsibility for larger packages and entire teams on a combination of long-term and exciting projects.
Being part of a small and dynamic team the appointee will be involved in all parts of the life cycle of remote handling control and software development from requirements specification through concept, design, implementation and development to manufacture, integration, commissioning, delivery and operation.
The fulfilment of the role will involve interacting with the clients at various levels and the
appointee will also have the opportunity to participate in some marketing and business
development activities with further exposure to company clients

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Applicants must have a 2:1 or 1st Class Honours degree in Control Systems and/or
Software Engineering or related fields. Creative problem solving abilities are also essential.
Additionally, applicants must have reasonable knowledge (preferably also experience)
in many, of the following areas and be prepared to gain knowledge of the others:
* Control theory
* OO Software development (all stages) (preferably C++)
* Actuator technologies
* Sensor technologies
* PLC and SCADA development (all stages)
* FMEA
* Robotics (Forward/inverse kinematics, trajectory generation, control theory)
* UML/SysML
* Databases
* Motor drive technologies
* Requirements analysis
* Real-time software development and OS usage
* Client interaction
* Technical report writing
Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Development and delivery of complex electro-mechanical systems for the nuclear, aerospace, shipbuilding or medical sectors.
