Job Title: Senior Analyst, Japan Powertrain & Compliance Forecasting, Automotive Job Location: Tokyo, Japan

  • The analyst will ultimately take responsibility for supporting the Principal Analyst in the maintenance of the Japanese powertrain production forecast
  • In addition to traditional quantitative analysis techniques, the analyst will publish summary information and rationale for his/her forecast such as legislative, technological developments, system information, trend analysis and engine product cycle charts, i.e. a qualitative assessment
  • Researching information: The analyst will work closely to and take guidance from one of our Principal Japan Analysts, in the collection of Powertrain related information such as regulation, technology, and daily news in the Japanese market Based on the information collection and additional data sourcing such as vehicle actual sales and used vehicle powertrain statistics, the analyst will analyse the drivers and factors behind this information, and produce logical assumptions for the impact on the Powertrain forecast
  • Client Support: Key to our continued success is the close liaison with our customers, in order to ensure that their information needs be fulfilled. The Analyst will be required to support and defend information and forecasts delivered to clients, and should also ensure that clients optimise the benefits available from the use of our products and services. The Analyst will be responsible for building partnerships with clients in his/her region, dealing with their concerns and issues and providing general customer support.

o Client meetings: Provide full preparation and support to the Principal Analyst in order to ensure effective client meetings, and help produce feedback material to customers in subsequent support

o Email and phone: The analyst will be expected to answer questions directly to the client and provide support to customer in email and phone following appropriate training and experience

o Direct experience: More than 5 years direct, or at least a demonstrable affinity with, the automotive industry. Powertrain development (designing, experimentation, simulation related experience is highly desirable

o Excellent analytical, writing and presentation skills, with proficiency in MS Office. High work ethic and ability to work to tight deadlines

o Financial Success: Understands Clients' business strategies including its competencies, capabilities, products and services; recognises and seizes cost saving and/or revenue opportunities; recognises influence on and connection between responsibilities and company's financial success.

o Growth and Development: Keeps appraised of industry and business markets; continuously seeks and uses feedback from others on all aspects of performance; identifies opportunities to apply new skills; proactive in pursing own professional growth. o Innovation: Proposes new internal processes; develops creative means to overcome barriers; analyses causes of problems, develops alternatives and creative solutions.

  • An understanding of research processes and ability to interpret complex industry data and information
  • A strong technical understanding of automotive systems, particularly in the area of Powertrain
  • An ability to initiate and develop productive business relationships

Requirements:

  • A degree in Engineering or Science.
  • More than 5 years in related automotive experience
  • At least 2 years of data management experience desired with emphasis on cleansing, importing, merging, formatting, and synthesising large data sets
  • Ability to visualize and compile large sets of data into a clear and useable format
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate technical issues both verbally and in writing to non-technical people.
  • Fluent Japanese communication skills to include writing, interpersonal and listening in English.
  • Developed organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and effectively prioritise.
  • Proven ability to analyse, assess and interpret complex technical information.
